The only good thing about Gen 8 (apart from the A pose being easier for content creators to make clothing for) is that it has more backwards compatibility than any other Genesis figure.

All the clothing I've made for Genesis has been for Genesis 1 and it's good that they can be used on Genesis 8.

Because if they made it NSFW the place would be flooded with uncanny valley, Genesis 1 + OpenGL-tier quality porn and the board would be deader than Robert de Niro's genetic lineage.

There are plenty of porn boards that should be sufficient for your needs.

Many sliders/dials are masters that control multiple slaves; their limits prevent the slaves from having effects that overlap (sometimes literally) oddly.

You owe it to yourself to learn deformers.

I use Hexagon (Daz product) and 3D-Coat to make my clothing for Daz Studio. Hexagon is a fantastic vertex modeller (even if it is woefully in need of an update, but hey, only $20). 3D-Coat has a hobbyist/educational license for less than $100 and is a really good sculpting program.

Hexagon has a direct bridge to Daz Studio and really should be upgraded and bundled with Daz Studio.

It's a shame that you still can't just have a brush and grab vertices and pull them around and you still have to use the magnets. Being able to kind of doing this with the magnets is a start but it would be neat to not have to use deformers that need some extra tweaking at all.

Anons, this isn't any of your faults or the figures' but these are really cheap eye mats. Are these the defaults for G3F/G8F?

If you're using mats from a vendor, call them out here.
>>
>>574610
>>574595
First off, you're showing improvement.

> That's another ugly bitch
No, this is the same head without the horizontal overscaling. If it isn't, you need to work on variation in your aesthetics (most of us do).

Brown/black healed laceration scars look fake, and all of your scars are perfectly flat to the facial contours. The white scar on the nose is white because the scar tissue is too thick for melanocytes to penetrate, so it's going to be raised. The more recent looking cross-face laceration scar is going to be a depression (i.e. a gradient line on the bump map) with a very thin pinkish line matching its contours on the diffuse map. Even mediocre lighting will catch a correct scar material and besides it's a good excuse to learn 3 point lighting and get off your DAZbabby HDRI crutch. The lip morph is a nice touch. Also, increase the bump value on the lips if the bump map isn't shit. They're too flat in general and rougher lips will sell your idea.

The eyelashes are now shorter than any human's regardless of age or gender, i.e. you overdid it here. Slide that back to about 50-75% of the default value. If this is G3F, change the gamma on the transparency map to thin the individual hairs.

FYI, one of the first things you learn when drawing the human head is that the corners of the mouth in a neutral expression are also the horizontal positions of the pupil centers. This remains a constant across age, gender and race, even where the eyes are set widely apart. Aesthetically we tolerate mouths wider than pupil centers more than the opposite.

Actually, he converted a game model rip of 2B converted into XNA, which is why he is selling it on DA instead of other markets because it is VERY illegal. I recognized it because I was trying to convert it into a FO4 costume mod for practice and it was harder than I thought.

I've done like a million clothing conversions for video game mods and XPS, but never for Daz, but I assume it would be the same. Just fit the clothes as best you can, then automatically copy the bone weights from the body you're fitting the clothes too. Then if there's "special" bones, like skirt bones and such, you have to add them yourself, I just use the automatic bone weights in blender for those though

Hi friends.

Need glasses for Genesis 3 Male that look like they could be worn by a scholar in a fantasy setting. I've found a couple of things but they're for older figures (the closest I got was Genesis 2 Male)

I know I can convert clothing pretty easily but what about stuff like glasses with head morphs? I'm kind of a newbie to this whole DAZ thing and I don't want to go downloading ancient files that it turns out I can't even use.

Looks good. The only thing is the tiling on the wall, you can see where the diffuse starts and stops.

Then you get no reflections or lighting on the character from the backdrop or environment.
You render it with iray's beauty canvas enabled. That way, only the character gets rendered but there's no backdrop.

I can't use morph loader pro or advanced for some reason.

I export as .obj with scale set to Daz Studio, then import in blender, make my edits without damaging the geometry (as in removing vertices or faces).
I export as .obj with Keep Vertex Order and -Z forward and Y up, and yet, when I import the model into morph loader pro, it says the geometry doesn't match.

I even tried using a completely unedited model (the one I exported as Daz Studio scale) and it still didn't work, so it has to be the orientation or something but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated

This is a huge problem for clothing that neither Poser nor DS have solved. The solution will require stepping away from UV mapping and coming up with something based on a dynamically generated undistorted subdivision, a pattern tile, origin and angle of tesselation.

If this already exists tell me.

If dA were strong enough to make external promotion unnecessary everyone would know that by now. Social media is a necessary evil for creatives who aren't employed by studios doing promotion for them.

I got a question for you, when you model and rig your clothes, do you do it for the vanilla G3F model, or if you have a character with like, enormous breasts, do you model it to the character with the enormous breasts or do you still do it on the vanilla G3F mesh?

Basically the only way I've figured out to rig clothes to my musclegirls is to first rig it to the vanilla G3F mesh, and then apply the morph on top of that. I can't seem to copy the bones from the musclegirl morph'd mesh directly. Am I making sense? Hope you understand.
>>
>>575115
If I make clothing to sell, I make it on the base character, yes. But if I'm doing a few shots of a custom character, I'll make the clothing for that one specifically and not bother rigging it. I sim the clothing for each pose I'm rendering using Marvellous Designer.

I'm told the terrible eyes I see in most of these renders are the default maps that come with G8F (and possibly G3F). Can anyone help me with PBR inputs in daz?

For example, I take a sbsar file from substance source, put it into B2M, it gives me all the outputs I could need, diff, metallic, gloss, roughness, normal, spec, ao, etc etc

In daz, after applying the iray uber base shader and selecting PBR, theres like 5 different glossy/rougness related inputs, i can't for the life of me figure out which ones I should put in, I play around by trial and error but none of them turn out quite as the material should look, and I was under the impression the whole point of PBR is a material that should keep its look regardless of lighting, for the most part.
heres a mummy

>>
>>576604
Well the IK rig is dogshit wrapped in catshit and the posing system as a whole is horseshit wrapped in bullshit, for a start.

And, the way I do it is to create a base for the pose by rotating the limbs individually. Generally only need to manipulate the upper and lower arms and legs, as well as hips and torso this way in order to create a decent pose. For finnickiness and small adjustments I tend to grab and drag a limb into position, but you have to continuously lock and unlock other limbs or the whole body will move with. It's shit.

Say what you want about TK17, but they at least get the posing system right. It can take me literally two minutes to create a decent pose in TK17 that would take me 15+ minutes in Daz Studio ONLY because the posing system is so fucking bad.

Until Genesis 3 the Genesis figures could be converted for use in Poser.

What DS has over Poser right now is mainly a better set of shaders out of the box and that make it dead simple to set up, light and render a scene.

The G3/G8 figures are low res trash but they're bundled with the application and desperate vendors will jump on literally ANYTHING that's a DAZ figure because they sell well to whatever generation picks up DS as a hobby for a year and a half.

Poser won't reward lazy people with instantly great looking renders but I hasten to add that knowledgeable users have already invested heavily in graphics cards and external renderers like Octane/Reality for both DS and Poser.

DS has a few competitive features like geoshells and geografting but performancewise it starts to die when you have more than a few figures in a scene.

You won't get fucked learning either program.

Well, somebody already broke DAZ's DRM already, iray is honestly pretty shitty if it wasn't for Nvidia probably paying DAZ to include it, and locking it down just means DAZ will forever remain an amateur application that can't integrate into other work flows and only used to make shitty Patreon porn.
>>
>>576796

It's very much the other way around. Nvidia's filings make it clear they make a good bit of revenue from licensing Iray across multiple products and vendors and they don't need DAZ at all.

you've taken all the fun out of it, you have

the pose is good, the eyes are actually focused on something, etc.

Weapon is the first thing you found. Rambo knife doesn't match the character.
Texture has no wrinkles, age spots, teeth could be yellower and to a much lesser degree so could the sclera.
Old people hair is not only whiter but a fuckload drier (go to church regularly for examples, I do) so make the speculars less silky looking.

I have no interest in critiquing the morph since it's 3DUniverse's and not your own.

>I have no interest in critiquing the morph since it's 3DUniverse's and not your own.

LOL. There's 20% Toon Generations (set at age 30) in there, the rest is free sharecg stuff (circular eyes, cariactures from a guy called mythcons), "200+ morphs", default morphs, and Morpheus. The morph is as much mine as any Daz3D morph is anybody's. The skin texture is 3DUniverse though but the bump and spec maps are not... the eye textures are mine own as well.

I would like someone who is a Blender expert to tell me how can i solve the following issue.

I have a model ported from daz who is wearing skin tight clothes with white boots. Problem is inorder to fix skin tight cloth issue i used with shrinkwrap modifier to make it fit the body properly. But that resulted in the White boots getting covered or overlapped by the skintight cloth texture. I want to show the boots over the cloth texture. How can i do this?

There are many others who use multiple DAZ assets in their games that are earning well over 5k a month in patreon bucks. Do you really beleive those addidas wearing slav squatters paid for everything? Of course not.

the license for using it in unity and for stills/static animations is completely different. there's no way for content creators to check if a still is using pirated or bought items, but many items aren't even legally available for that yet. I thought about it for a while and I don't know how you'd deform or freeze or merge assets in ways that would make them unrippable but also usable in the game.

I think Daz with clothing and everything might be too much for a game anyway, just bake it all down to a lowerpoly model and cull unseen bits. That might still be a problem but at least it wouldn't be exact pieces of assets from the Daz store.

>I think Daz with clothing and everything might be too much for a game anyway, just bake it all down to a lowerpoly model and cull unseen bits. That might still be a problem but at least it wouldn't be exact pieces of assets from the Daz store.

This is what I was thinking. I more wanted to do this as a test than anything else, I'm gonna try it when I'm back from holiday.

What are some great looking preset environments? Preferably with camera and lighting already setup.

literal environments I mean. Some caves or underground labs etc.

how does subdivision actually work? I crammed up the mesh subd render settings but my render looks exactly the same. I thought it would increase the amount of polygons or sth?
>>
>>577973
if you don't have enough memoey it moght not work
>>
>>577973
It splits the mesh into a finer grid. Imagine a square, now split it into four squares. That's one level of subdivision. It also smooths the result unless your program is set to not smooth it, not sure if Daz has that option since there's no point in Daz.

Now either it's not happening or the mesh is already dense enough that you just don't notice a difference. I imagine for most Daz figures you'd only want 2, or maybe 3 in really old figures, levels of subdivision. Nothing I'd consider crammed.
>>
>>578088
>or maybe 3 in really old figures
The exact opposite. Generation 1/2 (Michael 1/2, Victoria 1/2) had 160k polys, Generation 3 was less and Generation 4 was about 60k polys (which is why they can be morph sculpted without subdivision patches).

DAZ Studio is why the Genesis figures get progressively lower in poly density; its memory footprint is mostly consumed by that enterprise-level SQL backend so more than 3 figures or any animation or a quality displacement map, and the application starts to choke.

It's really a piece of shit.

I've been trying to find similar reproductions of cg cartoon movies and all I have is Mavis from the Hotel Transylvania 2 game. Don't know why this lowpoly and I think it was unlit model has edge loops on the nostrils but it's nice that it does. Might be a nice reference for morphs even though it's Sony.

I feel like I'm doing this in a really roundabout left-brain way, kinda dragging the vertices into the general area, using a shrinkwrap modifier on a heavily subdivided Elsa head, and masking it in with vertex weights.

Gotta scale the eyes up more and fix the cranium.

Looks closer but I moved the eyebrow section too far down so the eyebrows are where the eyelids start and there's some fucked up shit happening with the mesh that I didn't notice happening until I rendered. No idea why a small section of the finger, which I never selected, moved over 20 units, or why when I move it back another moves out, or why the eyes are now really fucked up.

I guess it wouldn't be too hard to delete them and reimport the original eyes and scale them to the sockets.

if you are using gen3 or gen8 theres little gain by increasing the subd and unless you have a beast pc all you will do is drasticly increase render time while gaining minimal results

This isn't terrible actually.

Does anyone know another site with decent hosters like openload, uptobox or similar?

there's a filehost that grabs RG links at premium without captcha or limits and costs nothing to set an account up with

or you could actually buy shit since you can afford broadband you total fuckup

Having some alright results just teasing the mesh for a Disney Infinity model I retopo'd a little bit.

Tempted to completely retopo it based on Gen 2 or Gen 3 topology and making a morph that way for better accuracy, but that's a big task.

dont get so wound up sweetie, just fix the lacrimals and you will have a nice looking model for a first attempt, enough to pass your class anyway

none
there's an empty space where they could be at either side of the eye where the lashes end

Lacrimals are things with actual geometry, not merely a location

Gen 3 might be easier to make a morph for than Gen 2, mesh is less dense and easier to modify. Gen 2 looked a little redundant any way, like a bunch of them were just interpolated from the surrounding edge loops.
