How can I do this in C4D?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

or even in arnold?

pic related was done in zbrush
>>
>>570304
do you mean the shading?
sketch and toon

I think Arnold can do cel shading too but not sure
>>
its more a question if you can do post processing.
>>
>>570328
you can take out Render passes from Zbrush.. and it's very good workflow. people usually don't even know that zbrush PBR renderer is very good and verstile.
>>
>>570304
you can use sketch and toon in c4d but know that the hatching in the one done in zbrush was done either in post of is done in sculpt for the shader to pick up, cinema 4d will not give you hatching, you will have to do it in post
>>
>>570304
How about using photoshop or any other tool and fucking draw it.
Who the fuck needs a renderer for that?
>>
>>570325
unfortunately Arnold is trash for a "cartoon" look

Unfortunately Arnold is not meant to do cartoony renders, dunno about C4D tho.
>>
>>570304

I don't think you can do that in c4d, why don't just download a portable ver of blender and use cycles?
>>
>>570304
ok op, time to quit the bullshit and learn some shit
>http://www.eyedesyn.com/tutorials/
this guy does a lot of toony shit on c4d, spend some time on his videos.
>>
>>570490
Why do people insist upon using 3D programs for flat shit that could be done much faster and for much cheaper with 2D programs like toonboom?
>>
>>570503
maybe because it's easier to model 1 time instead of drawing everything every time

This guy knows how to draw but yet, he made a comic book out of his 3d renders.
>>
>>570517
I know that, but flash/puppet animation is even easier, cheaper, and faster then 3D

Anime style stuff, sure, but what about the flat shit on http://www.eyedesyn.com/tutorials/?

Most of that stuff can be done in like half that time with aftereffects and toonboom
>>
>>571340
a lot of 3d designers, and most just starting out don't know how to draw, that's the whole point of this.

Because flash puppet art looks like utter shit

> get rid of the highlights
> make the black falloff thinner
> make the lighter skin tone more prominent
> flatten normals on face for more animu looks, like Guilty Gear did

gud2go

maybe he was thinking about the busty animu model
>>
>>571525

you can do considerably better than this even in MMD, in real time with hundreds of FPS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYIvvZf-S1g
the only problem with the above is he's really just dropped any form of highlight.

if you're going to use a full professional 3d package you should probably aim higher than that.

at any rate, if this is all you need then your rendering engine literally does not matter, because anything capable of dot product can do this.
also, that doesn't even have real edges, which is pretty much essential to the "toon shading" look. if you think it does, you should look carefully because those edges aren't edges, they're rim shadows squeezed so much they look that way, and while it can help this isn't a particularly good technique to rely on as your main edge source.

>>571525
> get rid of the highlights
i can't agree there. the highlights are simply bad, they need to be changed, not gotten rid of. as you noted in another greentext, ggxrd is a good example of 2d-ish 3d highlights done well, and they had specific mapping techniques for doing it. this is simply dot product or the half-vector specular method, and the falloff is way too high so the highlights are huge blobs. i think a pure white, hard highlight is a bad idea as well; if you're going to make a hard highlight(highlight with no falloff gradient), especially on skin, it should probably be some lighter shade of the skin and not pure white(whereas a standard, not-cel-look highlight can be pure white at the center and look natural).

I feel like I'm being shouted at. This commentator sucks.
