How do I make this seam completely straight,
while keeping the skirt ruffles?

because I do, please help if you know the answer? Pleating will add more pieces on the UV. there is a way, because I see many people doing the seam "right" while keeping the ruffles

umm maybe try looking at a real dress? its just a larger amount of metrical at the bottom then it is at the top causing the fabric to fold over itself and become 'ruffled'

Anybody know why these pleat sewed segments don't connect fully?
OP have you tried just manually pulling the skirt hem downwards during simulation to stretch the seam flat?
