Hello,
I just realized I have an old registered version of mods 401. Is it worth it to upgrade? I haven't done any 3D for years but am feeling nostalgic
401 is fine for oldfags like yourself
updates are important in 3D so yeah id recommend it.
but if all you do is modeling and unwrapping i don't see why you should upgrade
Blender is more powerful and it's free

only thing I hate about blender that it's users stick it everywhere and that they call "blenderart" to 3d which is done in blender...
it's fucking 3d, every other 3d application can do it, why the fuck do you call it blenderart?

and they even got a forum called blender artists

triggered much?
imagine if people who use 3ds max call their works 3dsmax art, or who create vector illustrations called it illustratoirart,
photoshopart? ))
or I have a better Idea, "EverySoftware UsedInaWorflowART"
"oh look guys how awesome my MayaZbrush3dcoatXnormalSubstanceMarmosetART is

forum name is ok though

Those programs are not built by their communities, so yeah it would not make sense to fanboy a paid product.

agreed except photoshop has basically become synonymous with image editing/doctoring, similar to how people say kleenex to refer to any kind of tissue
I guess I can explain the mindset of blender fanboys. I'm a blender user myself, but would never shill blender anywhere, I'd just point out what's good about it. But think, the more users blender has, the more money goes into development, better 3rd party plugins, better everything, etc.

I keep finding all those top notch plugins and it blows my mind why would anyone do it for free? Even I, an open-source developer would place a symbolic 1$ price on any plugin.

I've used Blender for almost 3 years, frequent a variety of 3D art forums, and I've never seen Blender users refer to their 3D work as 'Blender Art'
