I'm learning ZBrush. It's been taking me longer than I thought it would to get a handle of it, the interface is crazy confusing

well you need patience to learn it fully :) i learned zbrush at 2011 i remember my self spiting and cursing on my screen, a frindly tip, try first to learn the geometry tab , then the masking tab and so on try to learn each tab first, and what they do, dont use costum UI for start

Trouble is that its totally geared towards use with a tablet and the goal (presumably) was to make everything accessible while making as few actual button presses as possible. So they came up with their crazy 'two buttons on then start moving the cursor then lift one button then turn your head to the right and blink four times then recount the names of all the states in reverse alphabetical order' input system.
You can change the interaction mode slightly but it just causes more problems down the line so you're best off (as with everything) just learning the vanilla interface.
I wish they'd implement a proper no-compromises 3-button mouse mode.
Theres always sculptris, which has an extremely easy to use UI.

Yeah but literally the reason you want to use Zbrush is because of dynamesh since there are no other sculpting apps that easily combine meshes.
