So I was getting started in blender, however there is always part of the image that looks completely horrible. In this case it is the rim of the cup. How does everyone else avoid this?
All about those UVs mang.
So do i need to make it so that the edge of the cup takes up more space when uv mapping it? Sorry if this is a stupid question i'm pretty new.

You fucked your UVs up for that piece of the cup. Redo those pieces and then come back to us.
>>528831
It looks like you didn't map it at all. Like the texture is a sideways smear.
Okay so I take it that I need to learn a bunch about uv wrapping so I guess I'll do that, thanks for the help.
Okay the bottoms a little wacky but at least the top is fixed. Basically I learned never to use solidify if i'm going to do a uv unwrap.

Just apply the solidify modifier before unwrapping.
that texture looks like dirt, makes no sense for what you're making

I fixed the cup for you.
lol thanks for the correction
I was using dirt because it was cracked, planning on recoloring it changing the scale and using it to look like cracked paint
Here is an example of what i was planning on doing with the cup except with a bowl instead

Who's face is that?
You people are incredibly unhelpful. I know that's to be expected of the 4chan "community" in general, but this board seems to be disproportionately cancerous and pretentious.
I'm not OP, but they were not overly idiotic with their question and telling them to "fix their UVs" isn't exactly useful advice when they openly admit to not fully understanding the UV mapping process, or their error therein.
If people were more helpful and didn't waste so much time mouth breathing and attacking every beginner who takes a mild interest in the field, maybe this board could actually be worth something.
I don't even know why I'm letting myself get riled up...

While i understand what you mean and thought the same thing my self, i mean i did ask for free help so i wasn't expecting a ton of help.

It actually reminds me of the old polycount. It trained you to spot several word instances like fix texel density so you then research the topic yourself.
>>529252
So I went to polycount and it does not seem like it trains you to do anything. Could you elaborate please?

Imagine a painting board where people come in every day asking about what they're doing wrong with their paintbrush.
It gets old fast.
