Also, the thread is turned wrong, it should be screwing in the way of the swastika, that way you can apply the best torque while screwing it. I don't know in what shithole of a country you live, but in normal countries people screw clockwise.
Btw, this swastika design is cool as fuck, but unpractical, unscrewing will be as bad as a normal screw at best. Also, I've talked with a friend about it, it is possible to produce them from ss, silly me, I forgot screws were made by deformation, not removing material. Anyway, the thread is fucked up, you need to make it thinner. It needs to be able to cut your finger.

Here, I made this parametric screw in OpenSCAD to prove you wrong. It's kinda broken because I did it in like 30 minutes, but it works for most reasonable parameters. And in this orientation it shouldn't need any support.
I also haven't cut the drive/slot yet because I'm lazy, but if I still care enough to do it later, I'll come back and share the code.

I know, right? 3D printing is just building up steam, and yet... That feel when you hold something in your hand that you modeled, it is like being a true god. I would expect many more artists to be trying it out and talking about it!

I also noticed economics was brought up, and that is clearly critical. This screw cost me $8 to print, obviously unreasonable if you were needing a lot of them. Which is why my next project is to print a mold with perhaps a dozen. I am planning on experimenting with non-metallic compounds. Ceramic, fiber reinforced screws, that was my ultimate goal after all.

3D printing is really cool but the idea of filling my desk with (more) knickknacks doesn't appeal to me, and most practical things are cheaper to buy rather than print.
Basically it just seems really impractical to own or use, even though it's tremendously cool. All that said, if I were into table top gaming and had local friends that were into it, I'd be printing up a storm

Tried both and it dosn't seem to be helping. I did try rotating the model in cura and it game me new floating bits so im not even sure if its a model issue or a cura issue.

I have heard that Matlab can do more or less everything, so I assume that it can. If you don't find any other solution here is what I would do: I would create in Matlab Point Cloud (it is just x,y,z coordinates in txt file) and then import it to Solidworks. If you don't have solidworks try to find some free 3d scanning program, some of them are also using point clouds. It is not the best solution but it's something if you don't find anything better.

I am mechanical engineering student. I have very basic knowledge of Matlab and a bit better knowledge of Solidworks. Solidworks can do equation driven curves, but I am not sure if it can do surfaces, so if I would get that kind of project to do in very short time I would do it like this: >>521553

That's a model issue. If you go into expert mode, you can tick different correction rules for a model that might solve your problem.
Otherwise, you can go to the netfabb service provided by microsoft and upload it to be fixed. This usually doesn't take more than 5 minutes and only requires that you have a microsoft login (hotmail will do)

Does anyone here have any experience with flexible 3D printing materials? How soft can you print nowadays? Or would it be better to 3D print molds and fill them with liquid silicone?

Either mold it or make a hard print and seal it with silicon. Otherwise you can have residues setting between the layers that are hard to brush off and will probably cause infections and bad smelling later
The softness depends on the shell, infill and even on the type of extrusion your're using. It can vary from very soft to rubber ball hard
