For 2d, such as concepting, yes. Bigger budget films use specialist houses that do 3d mockups though. The trend goes as far back as Charlie's Angels. Men in Black used 3d previz. Battleship. Pacific Rim. All the Marvel movies use it. Jon Favreau uses it for everything now, since Iron Man. It's a standard in the film industry, and becoming one for game cinematics as well.

Thus, I was wondering what software people use for the 3d end of it, predominantly.
