Turn off Nurbs subdivisions and try again. If you are actually using that many polys, you have issues...

Bad, generally. It depends on what you want to do with the model.

If this is just supposed to be a static statue and you're just concerned about learning the proportions/sculpting right now, just keep doing what you're doing and worry about things like topology later.

OTOH If you want to be able to pose or animate that mesh, it's way too high-poly and the topology is bad. Before that mesh would become usable in a production pipeline, you would have to re-topologize it (turn it into a lower-res mesh that is actually controllable by animations in a meaningful way and absorbs stretching/bending in a graceful way)
