Because different drawfags have different perspectives on filling requests. Some feel obligated to fill a request to it's every exacting specification. Others, like me, only take the requests we feel like and even then usually only use it as a starting point. And the reason to post them if they're not exactly what was asked after is for much the same reasoning as there being different views from the drawfags - we don't know who the fuck requested what. Maybe the requester will be grateful for the request because they just wanted to see a specific character, maybe they won't (because they're self-entitled, ungrateful shitheads imo.)

If I want to draw a character someone posted in a completely unrelated pose, I'll doodle it and just keep it in my sketchbook. Posting such a piece just shows that you don't care for the quality of your work and that you just want someone to stroke your ego. I agree that the relationship between artist-requester isn't equal, but that's no reason to stomp over someone's wishes on a misguided powertrip.

The draw thread concept from once got degraded to a self promotion stage for a bunch of wannabes, desperately fishing followers and likes on tumblr to boost their range towards people who might be interested in buying one of their ridiculously overpriced commissions, even though they're not worth a penny due to lack of originality and any innovative content.
Let me just use KT0 (who was the catalyst for this whole discussion in the first place with one of his inscrutable whims again) as an example.
He basically does the same thing for how long now, almost a year?
Identically looking retort men with the same boring dick, the same boring body type and in almost the same boring position (because it's his comfort zone or something like that) over and over again, without any kind of progression. The only diversity is the hair style and color.
There's so many of these "artists" by now that people can't take it anymore and shut down, so they need to use every available means to gain some attention for their blogs or whatdoiknow they have.
Whenever he jumps to the drawthread to base one of his sketches on a request, don't be so naive to believe that he cares about actually doing the request.
I'm watching this for some time now and usually he never does. It was two or three times that he really did a request.
Mostly he's simply advertising his block, to spread his name and hopefully get more fans who might shove their precious munieZZ into his lazy but so he can keep doing the same shit for yet another year.
You might as well ask why artists go to a request thread in the first place.

An other visible example would be the "robby dude" and if you watched latest draw threads, you'll know what I mean.
You know that there's some hope left when people like Daikon jump in though, as he just did with something that actually fits the request.

as far as brushes go, i use custom brushes, and i don't really feel like blabbering about it on here. As far as this pic I just used airbrush and a soft brush tool for coloring. usually I'll just use the basic pen for lineart and then custom paintbrushes for painting.
