What would you be willing to do to preserve your own consciousness?
Consciousness is the curse of the human animal.
>>17337926
like, you mean stay conscious?
We already had a nos sleep thread and the consensus was more or less that it's really bad for you. Unconsciousness is good once in a while
>>17337926
The human mind isn't mean to exist for hundreds of years. Preserving it to last eons would result in insanity.
Taking on another consciousness
Supid question! Consciousness cannot die, only the ignorant believes that.
>>17337934
I'm talkin more like avoiding death.
I used the word consciousness because it leaves more of a window open for anyone who would be willing to live on in a computer or some shit, but I guess I can see why my choice of words would be confusing
what is this, a ghost for ants?
>>17337951
>Ghost for ants
>ant ghost
is consciousness just a combination of memories?
I mean, a dog can have memories but it isnt conscious of its existence. I think consciousness is in fact memories, but having the intelligence to reflect back on those memories.
for example, nobody remembers being 1-3 years old. its not that we didnt form memories then, its just we werent smart enough to reflect on those memories or make sense of them

Why do you want to avoid death. Death is beautiful and the circle of life n'all.
Chances are we have already reincarnated 100s if not thousands of times.
>>17337961
I'm absolutely terrified by the thought of not existing
I don't think anything else makes me feel the same kind of dread as thinking about how I'll die some day
>>17337969
I do vaguely remember being some type of creature on a foreign planet.
or maybe being high unlocked it
>>17337971
You'll probably pop back into existence whenever someone gets advanced enough to invent time travel or recreate our entire existence.
>>17337987
holy shit, jesus was a time traveler. that's how he could perform those miracles. he'll use a device to reconstruct our existence, and presumably good citizens will enter the new technologically advanced world, free of disease and such, "perfect" from our perspective.
it all makes sense now
>>17338004
>Jesus was an ayy lmao
>>17337926
Anything anon
ANYTHING
>>17337926
I'm willing to give up my physical body, but I'm not sure what could happen.
>>17337926
Kill my brother
Why worry about shit we will never have control over?
