What does this eternal mean? if spirit is not bound by time there is no such thing as "no ending" because spirit dont realise that it was "long" or "short"

What it means is that your soul chooses to go to a place without God. But we have been told the dimensions of Hell are not eternal. God lets people stay there because they chose it.

Because they chose it, they likely gave up all the skills they need to find their way out once they realize their mistake. God won't command them to come out, but he's not going to allow that dimension to torture souls forever.

The bottom line is eternity is a choice. You can self-destroy your soul, but you really need to understand what you're giving up.
