I wouldn't shove all cryptids into one easily dismissed category. A small percentage of them could be animals we haven't discovered yet/the last of their species we may never even confirm existed. Otherwise I agree with your post, there's a difference between things we've yet to understand and shit that RP'ing neckbeards make up to entertain each other.

You can spot the RP from actual discussion pretty easily. Most RP on this board is in relation to tulpas, psychics, or anything that answers questions like it's some kind of enlightened fedora neckbeard.
