Anyone else was scared of these as a child, or even now?
I find them very unsettling.
I've always been scared by them too and I'm fascinated at finding out why. Some of them seem to trigger some sort of deep, disturbing memories. Something about the sounds and the floating void, or how some of them show Earth from space? They make me feel this sense of definite dread. There's a whole wiki not only about logos, but about how scary they are and ranking them in terms of their scare factor. Here's a link!
I actually loved the viacom logo at the time. And still love it purely because I have a fetish for oldschool logos with their crappy sound quality, over the fresh new ones.
They give me memories of when television and movies didn't used to suck for me, because I wasn't redpilled, didn't analyze anything and just watched the stuff as a sponge.
I can only find a picture of the logo, but there were a couple of movies with this weird logo display with some kind of wailing noise played over it at the start. Freaked me out.
Does anyone remember what the company was where their logo/clip thing was some dude hammering the logo into some marble or something.
It was called "Hyperion" or "Vulcan" another cool Greek/Roman sounding name, but I just can't find anything about it.
OOoh this is what I was thinking of when I mentioned the William's Street Logo They use the same hammering sounds in one of their old logos and I just always assumed it was the same one.
Wasn't there a one of these with Spider-Man on the last letter shooting a web? I thought it was a Viacom one, but I can't seem to find it.
For some reason I'm remembering a steel blue or grey background like a grid, the company logo and Spider-Man. But the TV show had nothing to do with Spider-Man.
The absolute worst ones
Bombastic themes just get me for some reason.
There was one i cant remember where a guy was falling off of his house roof and i always interpreted it as a suicide.
I have FOREVER had the CBS logo burned into my brain. And for some reason that symbol is associated with the word 'hour' or 'our' to me. I cannot explain it. I remember thinking this when I was young and being confused as to where the symbol came from and why it had a meaning of a word, but I have never asked anyone. Seeing the symbol or imagining it in my head immediately puts a taste in my mouth and makes me warm.
please respond I am actually quite intrigued and this has always bugged me
This is me and I read this >>17281411
and THIS SHIT HAPPENS TO ME! Always has since I was a little kid. Some of my earliest memories are of associating a logo or symbol with a feeling or a word, and wondering why.
>media controlled by the zionists
>they know the secrets held by imagery
>they use their knowledge in the modern world to manipulate millions to do their bidding
Isn't this a conspiracy theory people throw around a lot?
Yeah but what were the long-lasting effects?
The eye symbolism is very strong obviously but why the 'Hour' 'Our' and distinct darkness and strange taste in my mouth? very bizarre associations, one of the few sense-crossing things I have experienced
The Williams Street one definitely got me. The fact that it always came on so late didn't help.
I live in Wilmington, NC where Screen Gems is located. Their logo always freaked me out too.
Glad to talk to someone who knows what I'm talking about.
That fucking adult swim thing at the end of shows. Williams street or somethin
Yeah it was so weird. One of the only other things I can remember that'd give me that feeling was the level with all the snow in Goldeneye 64. I can't remember what it was called, but you were just wandering around in a frozen tundra thing. That always gave me the same feelings as those logos.
First off, there was the ups logo. I was scared shitless of it for some reason. Had no idea why.
Second, there's the Intel sound from ads. I'd get scared from the sound and even from the logo at times.
Also, a Peugeot ad used to have a heartbeat-like sound at the end from which I'd get scared, however I can't seem to find the specific ad.
same bloke as the post before,I used to be rather scared from game glitches too, like when the textures were insolid and you fell through them and this kind of stuff.
playing gta 3 on a ps2 when I was about 6 was quite scary at times
I was scared of the playstation 1 intro..
THE DAYLIGHT IS YOUR ENEMY
>*ambient music intensifies*
I was too! I still am.. I don't know, something about the soft music playing in the background really freaked me out. I still can't watch if without getting chills. I never understood why I was so scared of it.
and then she put on the pants that I'd shat in and she shat in them. and then I put them back on and shat in them again. and then she put on her pants that I'd shat in and she shat in them. and then we took turns shitting in each other's mouths.
This game show haunted my childhood.
Everything about it, the music, the sound effects, the way the cathphrases were drawn, the way the host shouted RIIIIIGHT when a contestant scored a big win.
I used to curl up into a ball. :(
My brother and I used to make a game of jumping behind the couch and hiding before the logo started. I haven't thought about this in at least a decade. It was fun for us but I don't remember actually being scared of any logos as a kid. I was pretty easily spooked back then, too.
1. Inverted piramid without the capstone (the eye of osiris, lucifer, the great work of the ages garbage)
2. The black cube (saturn, black sun, cult of satan)
The Paramount logo represents the mount Hermon, the stars represent the fallen host, fallen angels, the watchers that lusted after women. 33 stars, parallel 33, 33rd degree mason shit, one third of creation that rebelled against God.
The following is quoted from the Book of Enoch:
“And it came to pass, after the children of men had increased in those days, beautiful and comely daughters were born to them.
“And the angels, the sons of the heavens, saw and lusted after them, and said one to another: ‘Behold, we will choose for ourselves wives from among the children of men, and will beget for ourselves children.’
“And they descended on Ardîs, which is the summit of Mount Hermon; and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn on it and bound themselves mutually by a curse” (Enoch 6:1-6).
That sound really freaked me out when I was younger. No idea why, it just sounds so loud, like it's trying to max out the speakers or something. Dunno, glad to see somebody else was creeped out by it
This one still fucks me up.
How can it scare you maybe i'm just a big boy but i find them most of the time pretty boring.
an exception is this which is beautiful but people think its scary but not me because i'm brave
How has anyone not mentioned the Big Feats Entertainment logo and that ungodly high pitched wheel-squeaking sound or whatever that it makes? Along with that abrupt trumpeting sound at the end? That and the Wishbone show logo scared me shitless as a kid, the way it's drawn is just terrifying. The smile, the eyes...What the actual fuck was PBS thinking?
I often wonder if it isn't like, past life memories that are being triggered. I know it's crazy, but these logos remind me of things that I can't remember. The song "Summer Breeze" does the same thing to me, as insane as that reads.
I'm not who you replied to but it's not insane. Many act casually about the possibility of an afterlife. I think you feel something I feel which is.. there are things on Earth that are in some way (not fully) representative of wisdom from external source. it's spooky entanglement, i see more articles every month on phys.org that basically boil down to, "everything is everything, try it all"
Never got that with the bells, but there was something amazing about the old one with the modem sound. So late at night, and after watching an episode of coast to coast. The strange spacey intro music, the irreverent humor which was damn near philosophical at the time, and then that beautiful logo with the internet connection sound telling you to disconnect.
>mfw Brian Eno actually composed the welcome music for XP
speaking of games logos and errors
PS1 error screens Personified Fear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v09ZCiZCcUA
and Fearful Melody https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEDxEos9ZIk
One time when I was a kid, I removed the game out of my gameboy player on gamecube and this fucking error blasted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWRqb-07T8o
Also the Sega screaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh5eis0sMHI
Emergency broadcast shit. When I was a kid this shit would make me hide.
Now in days I get amber alerts playing this noise on my phone, usually early in the morning. What a great thing to wake up to.
I'm the post you were quoting. I actually thought the same thing! It really does feel like it triggers past life memories for me too. I actually meant to say that in my original post.
Never got why the Ten Thirteen logo creeped me out, but it sure did. Probably because it was always right after X-Files.
Gracie Films, from The Simpsons, also spooked me, mostly the SHHHH right before the music.
And here's the good ol' Lynch/Frost Productions of Twin Peaks fame. Pretty sure David Lynch animated this himself, so I'm sure this was intentionally unsettling.
Holy shit the end of the reversed one reminds me of the bees in Crash 2, where they'd chase you and then you could get away by leaving the area or by burrowing underground. Sounds exactly the same.
I got two for you all. First is the imtro logo to a current affair on fox from 1993.
Then you have the logo intro for this mock illuminati initiation video.
Maybe it's because I was such a computer nut then, but I loved those sounds. And I was at my computer all fucking night back then, not turning it off until the sun came up. I just don't see the creepiness that you guys see.
What I hayed was, if you put in a disk that was a bit dodgy, the start up music would play but the logo would be distorted and the screen would just stay like that until you turned it off or rest it. I used to dread it.
did anybody else catch this frame @ around 1:24?
i figured out
how the force
saline water like fake titties
mod deleted the thread yesterday
what can u do
anyway im not gonna share my theory cuz my threads got deleted and no responses
im like the banksy of science
The reason you're creeped out by it is because of what you're associating it with.
Think about it. When do you shut down the computer? At night. That noise is the last thing you hear before... Nothing. Before you become aware of the silence.
Back when i was a kid and obsessed with buffy that guy used to scare me so bad. I would just run away right before the credits ending kek.
Anyone else get nightmares where logo's would be in an unreal environment and their edges were made of neon lights. The logo's also never seemed to stop and you felt anxious like you wanted to wake up and move but couldn't?
Same here. Also old. A lot of things associated with PBS used to freak me out. Many of the synth heavy soundtracks to their shows made my skin crawl. Oddly enough, that type of music attracted me to Boards of Canada years later.
