I have a friend who knows hackers and cybercriminals he met at Assembly and CCC (secret hacker parties). I got to meet one of them and he showed me the deep web. There was this crazy video that if you watch the whole thing you die but we only watched like five minutes and I had to go to bathroom and had a headache. He used all kinds of encrypted VPNs and secret encryption phrases you have to type in a terminal in C++ and you had to send a child porn picture to get on the website to prove you're not FBI. He bought my friend a dimebag of cocaine on Silk Road and then he asked us to leave through the back door of his house so we wouldn't look suspicious. My friend told me he was gonna DDoS the FBI website with a botnet he bought with stolen bitcoin from some TOR onion routed site. It was scary. I don't want to go on deep web anymore. I hear it's 100 times bigger than the normal web and mostly based in Scandinavia, Siberia and international ocean waters.

All you underage kids missed out back in the 90s and in early 2000s when the surface web had creepy and weird stuff right around the corner. The company selling those was called "Hacking Team" -- not very creatively -- and included code to upload CP to an infected machine. So yes, what you're talking about is a very real possibility.
