Newbie here.

Are both related? Same thing? Or not?

I think everybody heard at least one time, about people that can harm/ manipulate/ enrich materially others through rituals. I've even heard that at some special reunions, a group of few people are together at a table for dinner and you know who manifests itself on a special chair.

Sometimes are religious people like christians talking about it, sometimes normal people.

The point is: what is the right term to describe these practices, if they are part of the same doctrine?

I would like to know about the origin, history, beliefs, etc.

If the church killed them all, how these practices survived until this day?

How old is this?

How it's organized (hierarchy, centralized like catholicism or not, etc)?

How are the initiation process and how people attend it?

These rituals really work? How effective is that? What's required for the man that do the ritual accept to do what you want? How to be the man that do these things?

Where is the central sites of it (like Vatican, Mecca, etc)?

Do you have/ had personal experiences, stories, links?

Please share with us. I'm curious because there's too much speculation and little info.
