realistically it's highly likely that there's some sort of natural disaster that the govt knows about that just might rock North America. It's parroted to us every day by the news whether it be super storm this, earthquake that, yellowstone etc, odds are it might be a couple things happening at once but who really knows. I used to work in a cemetery. Those are plastic vault lids. They even got delivered stacked the same way on pallets. Basically, the casket (not called a coffin anymore) is placed on a flat piece of plastic and that like is placed on top of it and secured with zip ties, industrial adhesive, whatever. They're a cheaper and lighter alternative to steel vaults.

I thought I remembered somebody mentioning the same thing about Red Cross. At the time I just assumed they were storing them for disaster relief which kind of makes sense. Plastic won't degrade so you can keep them until you need to use them and they allow the bodies to be transported without risk of leaking to the families of the deceased until they decide how if they want to cremate or get a casket. It would be foolish for Red Cross or any other company/governmental structure to order millions of mahogany caskets with satin lining.
