I don't usually come here but I thought /x/ would be the place to ask.
I see this symbol around my universities campus a lot, usually very subtle but in particular places.
I want to know what it means.
I tried finding it online but I only found more common symbols.
Here it is on a door to the elevator equipment closet in a parking deck, seems to be written in chalk every time I see it.
Does anyone know what this might mean?

Bumping for interest.

You just got a chaos magician hanging around throwing up his egregore or sigil or whatever.
I throw my own version of this out everywhere I go.
It's probably some general good vibes magick or even a "break reality" thing.
>>
>>17192975
the reason you can't find it online is that chaos magicians just make shit up rather than using pre-existing sigils.
>>
>>17193038
Could you explain what exactly a chaos magician is?
>>
>>17192975
my guess was like:
arrow down pointed at the link with an x on it.
maybe it was meant to be a sign for "do not touch" or "do not enter" or w/e
>>
>>17193049
its the new-ageist of magick basically.
>>
with one more line it'd be upside down pentagram. meh. edgy.

A chaos magician is someone who beleives that human beleif makes changes to reality. Sort of like every religion is true, but only for those who beleive it deep enough. Read some Robert Anton Wilson or Aleister Crowley or better still, The Invisibles by Grant Morrison to get deeper into it. Chaos Magicians create their own religious symbols, spirits and Gods and use them to create changes in their own minds and the world around them.

So, is this something to be avoided or appreciated?
>>
>>17193073
Depends if it works for you IRL or not. For me it cures depression, gets me motivated to exercise and follow my dreams, has taken me around the world and even been the gateway to some fucking weird experiences.
But it's different strokes for different folks. And of course, the most important tenet of it is skepticism. Never fully beleive anyone's bullshit, especially not your own.
>>
>>17193073
yeah they mostly don't mean harm. at least the ones I have bumped in to. Its not an "evil alignment"
>>
>>17193073
but it's not inherently evil, if that's what you're asking. Unless the person doing it is a jerk.
>>
I've seen them above parking spaces, on or near elevators, and closets and stuff.
Always really subtle places.
So this makes me wonder if I should avoid parking in said spot or taking that particular elevator or if this makes it more safe or maybe lucky? I dunno.
I guess I'll never know, it seems like it's the intentions of the person placing them, right?
>>
>>17193107
Yep. It really just works for them. It makes 'em feel like the world is a little bit of a brighter place.
No need to fear it.
>>
>>17193117
it works for him too if he believes in whatever he wants to believe. if he believes this symbol brings bad luck, it will.
Basically, be confident and remember that immunity-cat is always with you.
>>
Alright I understand now, thanks for indulging my fascination.
If there's anything else interesting about this I'd like to know.
>>
>>17192975

one of the few times i've seen such intelligible explanations from every single post. nice one x, i was curious like OP.
>>
>>17193073
it's some white paint my friend, I imagine it's quite safe when dry.
