Other threadis autosaging, and there was loads of good ideas and people needing help with finding cameras
while there are TONS of unsecured ones out there you can find via Shodan and other places, the only ones with mics are Foscams.
You'll need to search "Netwave IP Camera" on shodan to find these. I've also learned you can search for "reecam IP camera" to get similar results, But I have had no luck with those cameras yet.
Here's some of the videos I've made doing it, got a few more to upload later on.
>that old 4chan infographic that had the list of key terms you could google search to find security cams
I found the oddest stuff going through those, I don't know if anyone knows what i'm talking about though. Usually those searches just wielded city streets.
I once found what looked like a cat daycare, though. You couldn't see the left wall, where I assumed the door was, and it was a big room filled with various cat toys and beds (and of course cats.) I had that tab open for days because it was just so odd, and I liked seeing the cats.
What was odd, though, was that I never saw anybody in the room. Actually I rarely ever saw signs of people. At night the lights would be dimmed and the cats would be gone, but nobody would ever come into round up the cats. They would just slowly disappear off the screen. They'd go off camera towards the left of the room, and then not reappear. Eventually there'd be like three cats left in the room, and at one point they'd all look to the left like somebody had food, and walk off the screen. Then the lights would shut off, and the next morning they'd all be back in the room. A few cats would be missing, though, and new ones would have appeared, which is why I assumed it was some sort of day care place where people dropped their pets when they vacationed or what ever. It was still odd though. I cant help but wonder why nobody ever came to add new toys, or pet the cats, or anything like that. It was like they purposely avoided the camera, which I assumed was there in case the cats ever fought or something and the owners wanted to see what happened.
Someone should point out that looking through IP cams, even unprotected, is almost certainly breaking at least 1 law. Just because someone isn't smart enough to password protect the camera doesn't give you the right to watch.
It's also really creepy, a lot of these are baby cameras. Do you really want the NSA to know you watch stranger's babies online? And that you find these addresses on a site that's mostly porn?
>I once found what looked like a cat daycare, though. You couldn't see the left wall, where I assumed the door was, and it was a big room filled with various cat toys and beds (and of course cats.) I had that tab open for days because it was just so odd, and I liked seeing the cats.
I saw that one too. There was an old woman in a pink dress that used to go in there.
>I turn off cameras with babies by hitting the factory reset button
Shouldn't you change the password or something instead? There's probably a reason the parents set those cameras up.
Reset leaves the password the same, the parents just have to go turn it back on when they notice the screen is blank.
Rebooting does the same thing.
If I put a password on it, the parent might not be able to log onto the screen to even see the seizure. But i do see your point lol
Depends on the law/country.
Using open wifi is forbidden in some countries. Other countries forbid it to offer open wifi to the public (public as targeted outside of offices, buildings and such) without registration.
In my opinion, if it's open, as in no security, you deserve it.
Accessing Unsecured IP Cameras!
If you enjoy my videos, you're probably asking yourself, as well as asking me in the comments or messages how this is done, where can you find the cameras, and why do the cameras have speakers and microphones.
I'm going to teach you how to do it in a few simple steps so you can enjoy having fun like I do.
Finding the cameras.
This is the first, and most important step in the process. How to find these IP cameras.
You will need to goto this website.
(note:the website will look different, this is an older image)
In the search bar at the top of the page, type in "Netwave IP Camera" without the quotations. You will then be brought to a results page with about 10-15 camera links from various countries. You will have to create an account if you want to be able to search the cameras by country (and for each country, you can also search it by city..for example if you want to find cameras in Canton, OH, you would search "Netwave IP Camera Country:US City:Canton")
Accessing the cameras
The next step is pretty simple in and of itself, you click the links! Some of them will just bring you to an odd page with details about the link, those are no good and you'll need to go back a page and try another camera. The ones that don't do that will open up a new tab, or page, depending on how you have your browser set up, and then a login box will pop up asking for a username, and a password. (keep in mind, some cameras may be disconnected, and the new tab or window will bring you to a "page not found" screen, which you'll just have to close out and move on)
Just like in the picture, all you need to do is type in admin for the username field and leave the password blank. Some of them will bring the pop up box back up meaning the info is wrong, but some will bring you to a page that will let you access the cameras.
pictures are on this blogspot thing i made, but i cant link it here. but follow that, minus the pictures and your be golden.
Sometime shodan goes down from traffic, and it will say invalid search query and you just have to keep trying over and over for it
I know that if I ask you to stop doing this you will continuing doing it anyway , but could you stop just for a little bit, I'm making a video research and the more video sources from security cameras the better.
I'm not making any right now since i have the baby and can't make too much noise actually lol. What kinda research video you making homie? hit me up on my youtube inbox and i'll help you out as much as i can
I'm using the cameras for automatic video description using AI methods I have a large database but lot of the cameras are getting down, I was asking my self( why???) until I saw this thread as an example hahahahaa
I forget the exact statute, but unauthorized use a computer network, any network, is criminally prosecutable in the US, assuming you get caught, secured or not, whether you did harm or not.
It's kind of like the digital equivalent of walking into someone's house just because they didn't lock the door. Just warning you.
>t's kind of like the digital equivalent of walking into someone's house just because they didn't lock the door. Just warning you.
that's the same argument I always say to people and don't get it
Not in the US, so... But besides, how do they deal with devices that auto connect to open networks? Most phones don't nowadays, but plenty of smart camera's that pick open networks to use without informing the user.
>YFW Douk Nouk be talking at you through your cam
OP why would you do blatant trolling to these people. Instead really mess with them. Pretend to be from the 22nd century trying to communicate with the past. Or that there is no time to explain who you are but a burglar/murderer inside there house and to run.
Take some chances.
PERFECT IDEA I have a few cameras bookmarked for today to try and get people with and I will try this haha
I've got a few soundboards downloaded on my phone to play back at them now aha
There was a woman with a white dress sitting on the ledge yesterday night, I wanted to take a video but somehow I messed up and the camera went down for some hours...
ohhh, yeah with chrome they don't work for some reason. Server push mode always fucks up. Id still try active x mode on chrome. I dont use chrome nor do i have it so i have no clue if it works. I have tons of luck with IE tho, its the only reason it's still on this laptop
Yeah, i need to redownload xsplit.
Here's one i made, started off messing with him and he didnt take it,so I just decided to tell him how to secure it, and he was cool as fuck with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiP9i7I8Yh4&feature=youtu.be
Bummer. I thought it was kinda quiet, but I've got my TV on in the backround.
I found another one, but it looks like it has fallen over and I can kinda see out of a window, but it won't move much.
HOLY FUCK! The dude from >>14911162
video actually looked up the videos haha!!
Someone just got home but I don't know what I should do next
That guy at the end was a pretty cool guy. I think It's horrifying how some people unknowingly put IP cams in their house. I remember about a year ago I got one that was set in a bird cage. I had a lot of fun turning the camera around in the middle of the night, the bird did not.
Only bad thing about this is that everyone will find out about it soon enough, especially since we get a lot of tumblr and reddit users on /x/ especially. This will be a craze and there will be less and less cameras eventually, people getting in trouble with the law too, probably. All those edgy 13 year olds thinking their "l33t hackers" for looking at IP cams, it rustles me in the worst of ways.
I like to watch him walking around and not knowing someone is watching him
Nah man, I don't mess with kids really, like, if there is a group of em or something I will, I did in one of them (botchamania) but the soundboard really didn't work, and trapped in a camera, but tiwas more adult than kid there
I have a 1 year old and I would be pissed if someone messed with her like that
Scared a bitch in this one, and pissed off a few other people in some videos. I do it namely to try and have some fun.
Am I bad that I want to mess with this guy. I know his time zone and want to play this
when he turns off the light or at 3AM in the morning. Also OP if you're there how do I record? I see an option to record on the software but I'm guessing you use a different method because I don't see any option to see what I record using that.
eh, I might mess with them. Before my other videos got taken down (i had the TV on in the background on almost all of them and NBC hit me for copyright, so I took em down rather than fight it) I woke up a like 9 year old. The parents had the camera named Cody, so I just said CODY! CODY! OooooOOOOooOO! and he yelled for his dad, that was about it lol
it's not. I tell them how to fix it and that i'm uploading it. The information is readily out there to access them with ease.
If you don't get a save box popping up, then you can't record those unless you use a screen recorder software like xsplit. The ones that work best to record are the ones that let you choose between activex mode (needed for the mic/speaker to work) server push and mobile mode.
I'm going to make a video guide this weekend when I get a chance
here ya go, it's on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWBKQuqTZHg
I'll start doing it in the descriptions, thanks for the idea haha
Sometimes the site gets bogged from all the traffic, refresh a few times, or try back later on.
sorry man still don't see it. I mean I know the site you are talking about now but you might want to see if you made the comment locked or something.
I have been staying away for a while, some guy i used to troll with tried to dox me.
I think i might have been one of the first to post these threads about foscams on /x/ in january / february last year.
And a long time lurker of google ip cam hunting threads before that.
hahah nice! Mark Dice featured both mine and your videos on some post he put on his facebook a while back.
I'm with you on the no messing with little kids, 10 and up are cool to mess with if they are in a group/with family since it's gonna be all of them getting trolled.
I made a few videos and then someone had showed me yours, and I thought t was awesome I wasn't the only one doing it!
Im getting a ip cam so i get these faggots ip, eventually someone will fall for it. you upload videos of people in their houses on youtube i hope thats illegal in your country because someone might report you.
Am I using the wrong site or something what am I missing?
some jurisdictions technically outlaw any public wireless. These laws are almost never enforced. However, under these laws, such devices would be illegal. You'd have to piss off some official to get them to actually prosecute you.
the laws were written before wireless networking became a thing, back when the only places running networks would have been companies, universities, and government agencies. The laws were never updated, and people were super scared of evil hackers everywhere.
So I have a shodan account with all the paid features. I am going to write a script to index all working cameras with the default/easy to guess passwords. I'll post a pastebin of the results.
I thought I was doing something wrong, but no, I followed step by step.
pic is what pops up every single time I go to a camera's website; and every single time I try "admin" and blank, "admin" and "admin" and the camera's ip, and every single time the pop-up just pops up again (wrong info)
Idk what I'm doing wrong; I tried cameras from all over the world, not only one country (you can try the IP in the screenshot).
It probably is illegal. You should proably stop now if you want to avoid being arrested eventually. Having a criminal record sucks.
People just have a hard time grasping these tech issues, especially older folks. There is no reason to spy on or torment them just because they don't understand webcam security.
What I don't get is how these are set up to be vulnerable. Do the instructions with these things say to just open port 80 in your router and forward it to the camera or something?
My cameras are read by the motion daemon and then presented on a web server secured with SSL username/password, so I don't really get what people are doing to make them vulnerable like this.
I think must of the fault comes from companies, they think that all users are stupid and lazy leaving default passwords blank, using UPNP for port opening, but when I see thinks like the picture I say "oh lord thanks for the dumb people"
just search on google for online scanport services like http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scan/ to check if there is something visible to the public (if something appears open does not necessarily means that your network is insecure) on the ports lists you can check for common ports like 21 22 23 80 81 82 8080
lel this guy.
why the fuck would he just sit at his computer with an unsecured webcam pointing at him?
You guys are definitely breaking privacy laws.
"Intrusion upon seclusion" occurs when a perpetrator intentionally intrudes, physically, electronically, or otherwise, upon the private space, solitude, or seclusion of a person, or the private affairs or concerns of a person, by use of the perpetrator's physical senses or by electronic device or devices to oversee or overhear the person's private affairs, or by some other form of investigation, examination, or observation intrude upon a person's private matters if the intrusion would be highly offensive to a reasonable person. Hacking into someone else's computer is a type of intrusion upon privacy, as is secretly viewing or recording private information by still or video camera. (On phone so didn't feel like greentexting)
Now this doesn't mean these people care enough to take legal action, 99% of them would just actually put a password on it. (And that's assuming they even realized they were being watched by a stranger) And if they even wanted to, unless they knew who exactly was watching them (Angry ex, disgruntled employee ect.), I doubt any law enforcement would waste man power looking for someone anonymous and charging them with something so petty when they most likely live states, even countries away (unless you witnessed something crazy done by someone thats wealthy/famous).
TL;DR Its deff illegal but the odds of any of you actually being caught and charged are so astronomicaly unlikely that I wouldn't worry at all.
>TL;DR Its deff illegal but the odds of any of you actually being caught and charged are so astronomicaly unlikely that I wouldn't worry at all.
then why did you just fucking post an essay
why no?, is his camera, is his room he can do wathever he wants, he does know that his a dumb and everybody is watching him, well maybe at this moment all we are watched by the big brother :| we see people throught their cameras, government watch us by drones, fly size robots, and ET watch them throught I don't know what.
I use that everyday at work - it works pretty well!
I use nmap when I have permission to scan an IP, (I.e. a client's IP) ... probably could get away with using it in these cases
Many IP Cam Creepin' videos the creepers play soundboard voices through the systems. Does people use Virtual Audio Cable or similiar software or what and how are the cameras able to playback the audio? Does some models have built-in speaker?
Found this camera in what looks like Russia?
I can control Focus, Zoom, and the Iris, but the camera is forever stuck in this stupid position.
pretty sweet looking. I found a camera earlier, one that couldn't record unless it was to the computer it was hooked up to, and I moved it down as far as it could go and kept hitting down until it fell and the dog ran at it barking.
stop crying and take this milf ass as consolation gift
OMG does any one can figure out what happend with his head?
Managed to find a guy in Tampa, USA and started playing some Tiny Tim. Ended up with him trying to bless the house and telling "whatever you are, leave this house and never come back in the name of Jesus"
I only got a 10 second or so clip of it, though. :'(
There is this one I know of in Egypt. The house is super fancy with a nice pool in the backyard. I don't know if its a vacation house or if I'm just checking in too late or too early, but I haven't seen anyone in the house. Ever.
Foscam tweeted one of my videos
I am starting to get worried they are going to hunt me down and sue my ass off.
I have had enough problems with people trying to dox me this year.
Considering 7proxying myself and/or going innawoods.
I used to, but either they have been taken offline or they were on dynamic IPs.
It seems every spanish language radiostation in the US has one of these cameras.
>Damn it 4chan, stop blocking all the proxies i use!
Few months ago i played
For them and they pointed and laughed, since then i haven't seen the hot girls anymore.
I think i was one of the first to start fucking around with these cameras after the trendnet security fail was starting to be known back in january and those cameras was starting to get taken down.
I saw a foscam at a shop in town and saw the audio in/out and my first thought was "trolling potential" so i went home and ordered one, port scanned it, then off to shodan.
Now i have seen so many cameras over the last 2 years i am starting to be nostalgic when i find one that have gone missing or that was one of the first ones i found.
The main problem is these things runs on very low power CPU and have limited RAM.
I did think about modifying the default firmware to include a real time chat window to the interface but i can not into programming.
These threads are always fun. People find it creepy that I like to look at random webcams but it's just cool to me that you can see somewhere you'll probably never visit.
I remember once when there was a thread and we were all trying to figure out what this thing was. It was dark and you could lights in the video, but no one knew what it was. They kept guessing it was a computer or something. The sun came up some six hours later and it turned out it was a tire shop. That was a fun thread.
>Cyberterrorism is a controversial term. Some authors choose a very narrow definition, relating to deployments, by known terrorist organizations, of disruption attacks against information systems for the primary purpose of creating alarm and panic
Hi is not creating alarm, neither panic, and hi is not an organization is only one guy helping people in a funny way to secure his cameras. FBI will give him a price.
There was a list of these that actually had some pretty creepy stuff on it. I remember one was in a completely dark room and the only thing you could see was light pouring in from behind a door. The door never opened, the light never went off, and you couldn't see anything else.
thank you! someone knows whats up. I tell them what is up and how to secure their shit and they are extremely thankful for the entire ordeal. I've had a few pissy people but they also calm down after I tell them they should add a password to the camera and thank me.
No, they say monoprice on them. The IP is on the back, right? The cameras are a bit smaller than the ones in the OP pic and are in the corners so it's hard to get a good look. There's also trying to not look suspicious to my co-worker and whoever might be monitoring.
How is this bullshit paranormal? Fuck off you lonely, pathetic voyeurs.
Tried on one but it was too close to the wall to get a shot of. The second camera is very small and has no sticker on it. The third one has the sticker on the top but it's too high for me to reach with just a step stool. Also, my co-worker caught me so I'll try again in a few days when I'm working with someone else and they're in the back.
Finally found one that let me in. What shitty surveillance, can't even see anything on half of them. There's cobwebs covering some cameras.
It reminds me of the early days of the internet, with security holes everywhere. It's insane how with a simple camera, you could be doing so much.
Just don't forget the basic rule of hacking: "leave no trace".
I found many cameras where the log wasn't cleared, and anyone could see the different IPs connecting to it. Just change some property that will cause a reboot, and the log will be cleared, at least cleared enough that only an experienced computer forensic could pull something from it.
Also, leaving backdoors is nice: I found many cameras with additional admin accounts, added at the bottom of the list, with "<space><space><space>" as the name, and no password, thus hiding it from the list despite existing. Nice strategy there.
A restaurant in Turkey. None of the individual cameras were loading for me except that first one.
Those spaces as "hidden" accounts was something i started with a long time ago, but others were quick to pick it up once they saw it on cameras.
Now i think someone has the process automated that it just feeds new IPs from shodan into a script that tries the default user then adds new accounts if successful.
Either that or there is 200 chinese immigrants working in a basement somewhere.
Only problem is the damn bot keeps overwriting my config changes on some cameras.
It is funny when you find people using accounts you have made a long time ago, last year there were someone else connected to a camera i was scouting out for a project. (Was trying to locate it)
He used the same account i did and was also tunneling all his traffic by TOR.
There was a surprising number of cameras in grow ops, i think that one was in colorado and it could be a legal grow but there were a lot of others that was not so legal.
Have to be really stupid to livestream your illegal drugs 24/7.
Wow this is sad. This is just... sad. Pathetic. I don't even see why you would "want" to do this, but I guess that's just how the world is now. A sad and empty place where scum live.
who says this takes too much time & has too little result...?
found a golem footed person
Ok, he ver vídeos usando la misma broma y las víctimas pueden ser divertidos rápidamente de que es una broma es diferente escenario there are not accessing people devices for making the prank, authorities can charge you with the argument that you can do it massive and create chaos, make other kind of pranks please.
>Also i made sure the camera was not in the los angeles area to avoid panic.
BUT on the other side, you can do it with chiness, russian or south america cameras xDDDD is less probable they will try to find you xD
