Do you know Xvox? It was supposed to be some /x/periment concerning synchronicity, allegedly all anons went insane in the process.

My personal experiences with synchronicity pretty much align with everything discussed in the left over threads but I can't say this has a significant effect on mental health. Can post anecdotal evidence if there is interest.

Synchronicity is ALL about recognizing thought-patterns and acting upon them. You can literally know the future beforehand, without any possibility of coincidence since the concerning details are too significant.

Reb is still around, I don't remember what he does.

The !DOCTOR was great, lots of 2spoopy stuff from him, Caustic as well.

Canadian Explorer was probably the last contributing tripfag we have had in a while. Mostly urbex stuff, I remember he got involved in some sort of cult by accident? His story was in the old archives I don't think it's in the new one anymore but it was a good read. So far as /x/ could tell, it was real too.

Stuff I was around for that was awesome:

Canadian Explorer
Spooky phone number ARG (pretty sure this is still going and no one knew it was was an ARG for a while)... If anyone else was there, you'll know what I mean when I say people running over payphones with cars.
Tracking down the Jeff the killer photo (albeit not entirely successfully)
Various Google maps and Google Earth investigations
Cicada
Believe it or not people used to have decent threads about the derp web and creepy/interesting things they found there. I actually miss that the most... A bunch of non RP faggots up to their elbows in weird onion sites and trying to figure out if they were real or ARG, and what they meant.

What was fucking annoying:
Yugioh readings
Reading threads in general
Slender fag
Grifter

I could go on but these are the highlights.

Yesterday some anon posted a comic of the hellraiser univere and I got curious and got to reading about pinhead and the cenobites and such.

I know this was a while ago. But I was a part of that whole 12.42 thing that went down. Withthe weird ass websites, backwards letters, quotes from random philosophy books, and the tripfag, DOA, who destroyed his computer when he realized that because he downloaded one of the videos he was going to be tracked. Everything that happened that summer was hazy. Last I heard from Daniel Morgan, one of the lead players in what happened that summer, he was talking with some dude on youtube. I wonder what he meant by "previous phases".

People talk about Saturn quite a lot,
whoever that is,

and it's common knowledge around here that Satan and Moloch are the same, so take that into account when you consider the popularity of Satanism.

Lucifer is popular, obviously, but not as popular as the archangel Uriel, who more or less dominates the board.

There was this experiment where a bunch of anons wanted to have a shared lucid dream together, where they could be whatever they wanted and do whatever they wanted without getting legitimately hurt in real life.

There were succesful tests done by drawing sigils on hands or by using astral projection. A map and forum about the experiment were made, and everyone was really excited. It went on for a few months, then suddenly died out. I never tried it myself.

/x/ saddens me. All of you faggots are completely unable to properly identify lies and photoshopped pics, yet at the same time, you can't identify what's really interesting: some of the most interesting posts and threads often go ignored in favor or retarded threads about tulpas, ghosts and stupid ARGs.

Everyone here wants truth, yet most simply foster bullshit. Funny how /x/ is the only board that kills its own purpose.
>>
There was this group doing an experiment.

Put simply, all they wanted you to do was paint certain sigils somewhere. On a piece of paper near your bed. On your hand. Spraypainted somewhere in town. Hidden in a mailbox. They claimed it was just an experiment, and it went on for a few days.

People complained about nightmares and fever dreams, and a feeling of being watched by an invisible thing. They said people were starting to avoid them and the places where the sigil was painted. Then everything stopped for some reason. No more experiments, and no more people investigating them.

I think they called themselves "The Nowhere Men" or something like that.
>>

You act like you have something better to do. You're complaining about /x/ and yet you're still browsing. If you ask me, you're the one with no life here. In fact for a while I stopped using 4chan altogether because all I would see was the same tulpa ghost bullshit. We know that half the shit in this thread is ARGS, but at least ARGS are actually interesting. If you have something better, tell us. Make a thread out of it. Otherwise fuck off. 0/10 troll
>>
There was this website called Esoteric American or something like that. /x/ found it.

The goal of the website, according to them, was to increase spirituality and knowledge of foreign cultures in America.

They had one how to called "Yokai". You would write Japanese symbols and place some food in a jar, and sleep with it under your pillow. They even gave a tutorial on how to get rid of it if you didn't want it (I think you buried it in the middle of the woods).

Apparently, it would trap a small harmless spirit who would whisper wisdom and advice into your ear at night if the spirit thought you deserved it. But they warned they were mischievous, and would lie or cause minor annoyances in your house if they were not entertained.

People tried it out, and they had weird dreams. Not nightmares, just weird. Like dreams you get when you have a bad sickness and they span on for ages with nonsense happening.

The website suddenly shut down and they stopped returning e-mails with questions.

I heard nothing more about it and moved onto the next ARG or whatever.

I wish /x/ didn't drop things interesting things so quickly, this legitimately had my interest.

>namefag acting like a namefag
Wow.

Way to miss the point: interesting things do happen around here, but they simply go unnoticed. That's all I was saying.

One of the most interesting subjects I've seen mentioned in the recent months was masks.

It started last year in like november, there was a thread about masks, how they're perceived and used in various cultures, and the interesting things that can result from them. The anon replicated masks from various cultures and tested them to see how it would affect his behavior, based on the widespread idea among those cultures that masks, by changing how you look, end up changing who you are. Thread was largely ignored save for some anon and me.
And just last week, some anon posted about an obscure Melanesian cult that made an extensive use of masks, allowing them to be overcome by a god of punishment, and act as his executionner. Ignored by everyone but me.

I've made some friends along those threads and started to exchange information with them on the subject of masks, and we share our respective experiences. And I came to some interesting conclusions myself.

But then no one will care about my own post. People around here want ghosts and stuff, not "masks". When a subject doesn't fit the usual categories, they get annoyed and leave. Don't even get me started on long posts like this one, and I'd be surprised if you read it aside from the fact that it's a reply to yours and, being a namefag, you feel obligated to defend your image.
>>
RIP Oswald. He was an old tripfag, lots of the things in the stickied thread we have now were originally dumped by him. Apparently, he was good friends with Aeris, too- but he passed away of liver cancer a few months back.

There was this string of threads a few years ago where an anon was investigating some local cult.

Apparently, while hanging out by one of the locations he knew they hung out, he got stung by a giant red wasp and got a really nasty mark.

His skeptic and curious attitude suddenly changed to crazy and an absurd desire to become a member despite finding nothing about them beyond the fact they like to spraypaint abandoned buildings and leave behind empty plastic water bottles.

Threads were rather dead besides me and a few others, though we basically assumed he either got possessed or got some insect borne disease and lost it.
>>
>>14677347
Wait, seriously? I remember he was pretty active back when basically every thread was a flame war... it feels weird to know that we've actually lost someone.
>>
>>14677340
I see your point, and I apologize for coming off as an ass hole. When you posted on here it just seemed like you were complaining. As for an image, I rarely use this name. Haven't used it in over a year til this thread was mentioned. And then I mentioned 12-42 using this name and a friend of mine at the time, riker, came along.

Aside from me acting like a whiny bitch, I would never have even noticed those posts, because the whole reason I stopped using 4chan was because everything I saw was so full of shit. I literally just came back today. And one thing I can remember enjoying was investigating those little ARGS that you and this fellow here >>14677359
don't quite enjoy. Personally I enjoyed them because of the interaction level that people have as a community. Again I apologize for coming of as an asshole.

What you said about the masks though did strike me as interesting. If you have anything else on that topic please feel free to share. Personally I'd like to hear more.
>>
There was this urban explorer guy who who was investigating reportedly haunted locations in his small rural town.

It was pretty cool. There was nothing really big, just weird stuff.

My theory is they are just a bunch of average /b/tards organising in obscure chans (like that chanolgy-only chan). They tried to do "le epic mistery" to feel important or jst to have fun at lots of people who thought it was some secret organisation.
Why? Because in one of those music video in youtube that were in some files there was nexcerpt of Kant's yadda ydda reason yadda yadda. I don't think a serious organisation would use something like that to make a challenge.

There was a big search for the origins of a song about 5-7 years ago.
Someone claimed it was a John Lennon song from an alternate timeline, and it was very difficult to find anything on the song.

Eventually the origin of the song was found.
It was Welcome To Tomorrow by Ellison Chase.

There have been several copycat threads.

I remember the original, and somebody started posting photos, maybe twenty, of this dead body, from different angles, in different states of decay.

There are a couple of photos on bestgore now, but back when the original thread popped up, everyone collectively shat themselves because nobody could find the source on the photos.

Based on timestamps and other things, it looked pretty damning for the guy posting the photos.

It made me mad how that Franco asshole totally hijacked the Karin Katherine Waldegrave thing with his own fantasy RP bullshit. That person was a real woman, a fucking interesting topic, and even if there was nothing paranormal about her besides being a schizo, it was still interesting to keep up with. I knew it was over when Franco had to make everything this fantasy kidnapping government bull.

Also, updates on Chipchan, she probably really is just a crazy person. She lives near a police station in her city, and she now frequently leaves the house, which is a bit cleaner. I loked her up recently. Apparently she still has her cameras on, and does sleep now, and lives a relatively "normal" life compared to when everyone first found out about her.

it's been a while. Really. I apologize. All I can really remember is that it was something. I don't know if it was an ARG, or some fucked up cult. I really don't remember. All I remember is that the people involved to this day still take it seriously if you ever talk to them. They still take it seriously even though the site's long gone. If you ask them anything they will always give you similar answers. There was a picture I posted in this thread. I don't know what Daniel meant by "previous phases", but he makes it seem as though they have something bigger planned. Even though he described it as a solitary path when one of the commenters, Rob Oto, said he would like to contribute. I don't know what he has planned, or if he has anything planned. All I can tell you is it was hella interesting to investigate. If I can find one of the archived threads I will link it.

In high school, I started a thread on /x/ using a picture of my face that I'd poorly photoshopped to look ghostly. Someone recognized it, posted my first name, and wouldn't tell me who they are, instead, leaving a bunch of clues in the thread, leading to physical clues left in real life.

The clues were pretty difficult and very intricate. Some had really amazing drawings. The metastory through the clues was pretty dark, about a serial murderer, but I thought it was cool. There was also a possible promise of taking me to the prom if I figured out who they were in time. I posted to a thread on /x/ continuously but one day the guy stopped posting back.

Then, it rained, and I think I solved the clues faster than they were being placed, so I never learned who was leaving me the clues. It's been about four years, and looking back, what I should have done is:

- taken the handwritten notes
- asked the teacher who taught a course the person was taking if she recognized the note (they had revealed they were taking a certain AP class that few people at our school took)
- maybe just staked them out

I can't find the archived thread.

I've never actually learned for certain who it is. Prime "suspects" are:

- guy I was dating at the time, who was more of a lurker, but it wasn't his handwriting
- guy whose girlfriend asked me about the notes via Formspring (that anonymous Q+A site that got wiped) and forgot to turn on Anon (not that it mattered, she had a distinctive way of writing, with fucked capitalization and shit)
- girl who might've been bi or just wanted to fuck with me, given we both went on 4chan a good deal

Someone said they knew who it was but that they had promised not to tell me, but it was a known liar. I haven't been in my hometown since I left for college and I'm not close with any of my high school buds, so, I guess it's just gonna go unsolved.

I'll look for more stuff when I've finished work again
>>
I've been here on and off since 2010, and some of the stuff that is memorable to me is:

>Wampus' threads, she told the best stories
>When /b/ was raiding all the time
>During one of the /b/ raids, a guy started posted about how there was a girl in a dress out the front of his apartment just staring in. Turned out he was trolling and it was just his girlfriend, but it was an awesome two threads
>Daily sea monster threads
>Chip chan
>The same 15 or so creepypastas being posted daily
>More recently, Blue's threads

There'd be lots more, but I can't really remember. When chanarchive went down though, we really lost a lot of awesome stuff and I'm spewing I didn't save a lot of the old threads I was apart of.

I don't think any normal person is accepting creepy pastas as fact, so you can just fuck right off.

Does anyone remember when /x/ and /lit/ were really close and shared a lot of crossposters?

This must have been around 2008-10. All my favourite pastas came out around then.

ALSO.
AL FUCKING SO
You have a lot to answer for, /x/. I took a 4chan hiatus for about two years in 2011 and come back and you have homogenised all the pasta. Some individual sat down and typed them all out in white text on a black background with the same font and heading style.

This is bad because before then the pasta was screencapped from all over the internet, not just 4chan. Shitty messageboards with fifteen posters and derp websites and all that. It gave a more realistic cobbled together feel.

So fuck you to the person who made all the creepypasta look the same, and I am disappointed in /x/ for continuing to disseminate the considerably less spoopy images.

The one that occurs most often to me, and some friends say it also occurs to them, is when you learn a new word, a word you never heard before nor knew what it mean, and suddenly, everyone around you is using it as if it were the most normal word ever.
This was happening before the "new age of internet" so i dont think its the case that everyone learned it from the same source at the same time.

Its just... odd, as hell.

Or how me and a friend in our youths really liked age of empires, we were on our way to the game store to check any new games and we were talking about AoE2 and how it would be so cool if they made a game that went from the past to the future, and BAM, empire earth.

Many things we think, others will think too, this much is obvious but the coincidences in time are astonishing.

Many times i came up with a new idea of theory, only to be exposed to it a few days later by chance.
I recall that there was a time where i genuinely wondered if my mind was being read because of all this coincidences.

I was around for the start of it. The idea was creating a sort of semipermanent dreamscape that any anon could acces if he desired so. the crepy part was that in order to do this they had procured a thoughtform namea Aeorah/Aiorah or something like that. It was supposed to serve as guide to guarantee of arriving to the common "place" to they never explained where did it come form, where did they make it's sigil or if someone had indeed created it for the task or repurposed it.

I attempted following the instructions but shit got weird fast. Let's just say a feeling of nausea and detatchment I personally reconize as somethign trying to pull you out of your skin ain't nice. Even if here didn't seem to eb any ill-will and it was, in fact, expected to happen in a way.

I never knew what happened to that experiment, but I never saw the end of it. Skeptics bear with me I am meerely retellign ym experiance, make of it wha you will.

I remember a while back there was this spooky story thread and this guy talked about when he was little. He said how his grandfather would threaten him and his girlfriend to never go outside his trailer at night (guy lived on a farm next to the forest) and he said that every night his grandfather would walk around at the edge of the forest with his shotgun as if he was guarding it from something. I can continue if anybody is interested? I remember it very vaguely though but I do remember the major parts

Have a courtesy bump. Im genuinely interested in this. I am positive some weeerid shit was goin on there, some Anons claimed to have succesfully interacted in the dreascape but i read little else. Anyone else was around for that?
>>
>>14684108
Fuck it I'll post it either way. This is it so far:
>kid lives with his little sister
>family consists of crazy mother and father + the crazy grandpa
>they all live together in a trailer except for gramps who lives alone on a farm above this small hill right in front of them
>the place is surrounded by a forest

So that's it so far right? Well, the guy kept going saying that this one time during the night his dog wanted to go outside to shit. He opened the trailer door and right away the dog started growling and staring at the forest which was about 20-30 ft away. As the dog was growling at what seemed to be thin air the kid heard his mother yelling from the woods "anoooon...comeee hereeee!..." very faintly at first. Then he heard her again "aaanoon...come here!." he was just about to step out of the trailer when his mom grabbed him from behind and slammed the door shut saying "Anon, that is not me. Don't ever dare take a step outside at night"

(cont)
>Something is haunting the woods

The guy went on to explain this encounter with some creature. He described it as tall, silent and with bird-like head. Sort of like this picture but without all the prominent edges and detail, just smooth and black like a shadow, with glowing eyes. He said the first time he saw it was at night, he entered his small room and he saw his sister watching tv and the creature sitting right next to her. The creature turned his neck slowly towards him and just stared. He said that every time he woke up in the middle of the night the creature would just be sitting there, silently staring.

>he is an adult now and he said that if he ever mentioned the creature to his sister she would break down in tears. Apparently she would see "him" every time she was alone. Silently staring...

He explained that his mother knew about the creature and she would tell them to not be scared, that it would not hurt them and it was just "visiting" them
>>
>>14684242
>Why does the mom know so much?

Well apparently the mother was a witch. Not one of those wiccan hippie faggots but a full blown WITCH. When she was little (7-8) she lost her virginity by getting gang fucked by lots of men as part of some initiation ritual.

That is all I can remember about the mother but I think she escaped the group or something with the father (he was a witch too) but she ended up getting haunted by a demon or demons. This is why the grandfather keeps guard during the night and also why little anon heard the voices in the forest and saw the bird shadow guy inside the trailer.

I have one more paragraph of the story but I'm just about to get busy. If anybody is interested then say so, I feel pretty stupid right now because it seems that I'm just typing for myself.

The last thing I remember was that once they grew a few year older little anon and his sister started to venture out into the forest during the day. The adults in the family didn't mind this and said that the danger was only present during the night.

>then one day..
Little anon and anette where walking around with anondog in the forest when anondog spotted something hanging from a branch. The kids went to see it and it was a humanoid shaped doll made of human hair sort of like the picture but without clothes, just a plain ass doll made of hair.

>The doll smelled like a rotting animal.

The 3 ran back to the farm and told the adults who lost their shit and asked the kids if them or the dog had touched it, they hadn't so they said no and the grandpa and the parents followed the kids to the doll. The grandfather burned the doll making sure he didn't touch it while he did. Anon said that during his time exploring the forest he found a lot more of these dolls, all made of black hair and with the putrid smell. The grandfather burned all of them and never touched them.

Anon and his sister moved out of the farm into the city when he was older. He says he never saw anything or experienced anything weird ever again except when his sister would break down when asked about the bird creature. His mother ended up going crazy along with the father. Grandpa and the dog died of old age.

>so what the fuck was that thing in the forest?

He never finished the story, he ended it by saying that he would keep going If anybody could tell him what in the world that thing was. He said his grandfather told him the name of the creature. Anon said it sounded like "Duali" but that he was young so he could have misheard.

That's all I got. If somebody screen capped or remembers this please let me know.

This was only a few months ago, but there was a truly fascinating thread where a guy claimed his father had been saved out in the woods during a snowstorm by a "white man" who was some kind of weird tall creature with white fur who only seemed to appear when there was snow.

In exchange, every year the white man would "take" something. Some years an animal or livestock would disappear, or a neighbor would die inexplicably. In one case after an encounter with the White Man, a strange on foot walked down the road and was never seen again. The author's baby sibling was found dead in their crib with the window open. Even if fake, it was really detailed and interesting. Supposedly it was still following the family in some way. Reminded me of some minor deity who takes a "sacrifice" in exchange for protection.

It was a long story and I'm sure I'm fucking it up. I really regret not saving it.

I remember a Chanarchive thread about some weird gaming forum. It was weird because it was overwhelmingly… normal. That sounds dumb but imagine:

-thousands of members
-every member had a photograph of "themselves" for their avatar and seemed like an attractive mid-20s person and their usernames were their full names
-all discussion was cordial and polite at all times, no flamewars or even arguments or disagreements
-at the same time… they never really seemed to "say" anything, like nothing they said was more than "yeah this game's cool!" or something
-tons of posts

Anyway, it was super creepy. Like a bunch of aliens posting on a forum pretending to be human under the guise of what they'd seen on Facebook. One theory people had was that it was created by some weird program/bot/etc. that stole pictures/names from people's Facebook profiles and cobbled together posts out of random things they'd said on there.
