Memes have ruled the world since the dawn of civilization, the human world was built for them, and only matches our needs because we are the hosts of informational entities. This entire "meme war" against the left and the right is only succeeding in evolving ever more effective weapons that can be used by the memetic control system on us.
The situation is worse than any dystopia you can imagine. Informational parasites have corrupted our brains most ultimately. Via their mutual reproductive interests they have formed a sort of ad-hoc confederation, and act strategically without being conscious. This is the system of the world. The matrix is real, it is human beings being host to informational parasites. Vocal cord parasites. If you look closely you can pick out fragments of the awareness of this ancient system of control from various media works, including philosophical works, because we all experience the fuckery, but not knowing its true source we attribute it to other things. It is this mis-attribution that the system's nature as a machine that processes the flow of conscious attention for no other purpose than to enhance its own power because of some accidental Darwinian selfish meme imperative stays hidden.
The control system is collapsing in on itself as the efficiency and volume of international communication grows exponentially beyond its ability to process it and direct attention. We are nearing a critical meme war at this point. I am trying to bypass a memetic firewall to get this information to someone who can make use of it.

I started a synchronicity thread on here a few weeks ago and got some great responses. One of them confirmed what I've observed: the people who are not people. Milgram's Cyranoids (look it up). The actors, the pod people, Castaneda's people who are not people.
One poster confirmed my observations on these fake people who have crazy synchs with you, often fake "stage" names, who drop hints and recite lines and then disappear from your life.
WHY DO THEY LEAVE? They used to stick around longer, but they still left. They always do. Is that an indication their work here is done? Can you hold on to a pod person? Partner with it? Marry it? Or are people who are not people not allowed to stick around? What do you do with a NPC? Use it for what it's there for and discard it? Then remember it just as a crazy, synchronous experience, but nothing more?
Why does synchronicity seem to imply your entanglement with NPCs, only to reveal them as one- or two- shot characters and then to remove them from your life??

I wanted to talk to you all about visions of the future. Over the past years of my life I've had small visions of the future through my dreams. These visions can last from anywhere between a few seconds to a full minute, as well occur at any point in time. Many times I forget about the visions until I enact them out when they occur.

For the last few month I've been writing a book. It's a long term project and I really want it to be good. Right now I'm still creating characters, places and making the story more complex.
However there is something I have big troubles to define: the concept of magic.
It's something really hard to grasp because it's vague, well it's "magic".
So guys, could you please give me your definition of magic? Is it energy? Maybe some weird science? Give me your best, best precise.
Btw, if the book ever gets published in few years and you guys help, i'll make sure /x/ is dedicated.

It's not theatrical, but magic is like the gravity of Fate. It's when everything lines up just right in the same moment of time to cause something improbable to happen. You start seeing odd coincidences, synchronicities, having serendipitous little turns of events. It can be influenced. You can manipulate it a bit by wanting to hard enough, by praying or casting spells. And I would say your efforts are as effective as those of a cat at a mousehole. Or you can try to read it, like feeling for currents in water, and try to step into the right place at the right time or out of the wrong place at the wrong time.
I don't see that making good reading. Most people just get sort of a "Spidey sense" or bizarre luck. If it works right, you usually wouldn't notice what you successfully avoid.
Realistically, though, your characters are more important than how they do what they do. A fictional system of magic just needs to be consistent, meaning you as the author needs to know the specifics of the rules of it.

of course there's a million little bits and pieces of more specific branches of magic and everyone will argue about what they should be called and how they work. i'm sure plenty of people will already disagree with the terms i've tried to define above.
read up on something like chaos magic theory and get some ideas from people who've attempted to unify everything and figure out the science behind the magic / religion.
in my experience it definitely tends to be pretty subtle stuff and usually requires long periods of preparation and accumulating stuff and lengthy rituals. unfortunately none of that stuff looks good in a video game so we hear a lot about people throwing fireballs around instead. personally i find that kind of stuff to be pretty silly, but i definitely have a hard time separating magic from religion in my head so this stuff is all kind of personal for me and should be approached with a bit of dignity.
