I would say no you don't. It is bad. I'd argue that this person is trolling you, School Days is not remotely a romcom, it's about human beings being scum of the earth and destroying each other's lives. There's also an English translated visual novel that would be a better read, because it's still completely animated.

But enough of that. That's not what you want. Check out something called Ore Monogatari (in English, "My Love Story"). THAT is a pure love story.

Lovely Complex is one of the greatest RomComs i've had the pleasure of watching in recent years,and good news, it's not a harem.

By the way School Days isn't a RomCom, at the very least it's not a comedy in basic terms.

One of the great things about it is that it has a really good pilot.

Not a lot of anime does this.

But you could watch episode one, and nothing else, and go away satisfied.

Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou. It's not resolved yet, but it's pretty comfy.

In general good romcoms are doomed to run for obscenely long, in 99% cases never getting the resolution in their anime adaptation or the manga would stop selling.
