How do I type out the short L and inverted short L signs ?

they're called "hook brackets" or "corner brackets"
here are the unicodes (hexadecimal / decimal):
horizontal: U+300C (12300), U+300D (12301)
vertical: U+FE41 (65089), U+FE42 (65090)
so if the progam and font support it, you would hold down the Alt key and type in the decimal code on the number block of your keyboard.
oh, didn't look properly, those in the image are the double hook brackets, not the single ones.
horizontal: U+300E (12302), U+300F (12303)
vertical: U+FE43 (65091), U+FE44 (65092)
