Really specific request here, I'm looking for anime where the MC transforms for battle. Can be either a literal transformation or some full body armour materialising out of nowhere. No mecha or mahou shoujo-esque costume changes.

Forgot Garo got an adaptation, the live action somehow manages to be one of the most anime things I've ever seen so it's bound to be quality.

Recs tend to overlook the transforming hero aspect of the shows in favour of similarities with the organizations/gore/mystery/monstrous enemies and such. Not to say it's bad advice, it just tends to lead me to one-off OVA territory which is fine but not what I'm looking for right now.
