I've never played a JRPG.
What's a good one to start with for someone new to the genre?
Do you want a retro game or a game that's newer? Any series you are interested in or any particular story?

As long as it's not too archaic I think I'm up for anything.
Also I would prefer if it wasn't too long of a game. Under 20 hours would be nice.

I'd recommend Chrono Trigger.
It came out originally on snes, but is also available on ds and iphones.

It's a classic OP.
Super Mario RPG or most of it's spiritual successors.
Chrono cross is a nice choice if you want a simplistic combat and a great soundtrack. Plus the game is maximum comfy
