I think I figured it out. I went to task manager and some MSI program was using 95% of my CPU. I have an MSI mobo and graphics card so I have a ton of bloatware but it has never gotten in the way like this before. I ended the task so I'll see if everything went back to normal.

I'd say I've had about 80% success rate with this approach. Certainly you need to adapt to the environment. If it's a mix then you use that expression
