this is why anime is not taken seriously. Instead of being an amazing medium to tell stories and show off great animation, the vast majority of content is pandering either to angsty teenagers or insecure neckbeards who desperately wish to be cute little girls.

The only issue with this is that decent anime is being held back by moeshit and shounen garbage. I couldn't give less of a shit what normies think, but movies like redline, which push the industry in a positive direction, don't make that much money.


Why? Piracy. No one pays for the anime they watch, so the only profitable animes are shounen and moeshit because people buy the merchandise (like body pillows and figurines).


Redline was an 8 year project that was a fantastic movie, but because it didn't make money we won't get any more films like that.
