Is there anyone still playing halflife? wow...
>>
>>913987
No idea anon. No idea.

I know back in the day I used to rock Team Fortress Classic and nowadays all that remains are servers devoid of human life and populated by exclusively by bots.

The online games of yesteryear are a desolate and heartbreaking place to revisit.

Standing at the back and pointing and clicking doesn't make you good at TF2, it just makes ou good at aiming.

>>914187
Aiming is a gaming skill is it not? Sure it's twitchy as fuck but for a sniper aiming is kind of vital
>>
>>914201
That's how lag compensation looks when you replay a demo of a match. You know nothing.

>>914187
people barely even play sniper (or heavy, spy, or pyro) in 6v6 TF2 because its usually so hard to make a difference with any of them. Killing a whole team like that is pretty unheard of.
They only do pick sniper when there's some actual room for them to stand in the back and still see enemies without getting killed immediately by a scout.

IIRC, this guy ( >>914043 ) usually played roaming soldier (the expendable soldier that doesn't stick with the medic all the time)

Ace comes from the term Flying Ace.
A Flying Ace is a military pilot who has at least 5 confirmed aerial victories.
It has meant this since the first world war.

There's a slight delay between what the shooter actually sees and what the server records (webm), so the server shows his aiming as slightly delayed. They were clean hits client-side (i.e. on the shooter's own/local screen) and that's all that counts

Enemy team is humans, OP is on team infected. Infected have to incapacitate all humans in order to win that round. The faster you incapacitate your Human opponent, the more points you get.

During this stage, Humans have to go up a lift in order to proceed to the safe room, so the Infected team tries to set up at the top floor of the lift to attack all at once.

Three infected players spawn at the same time. The Charger takes out one human charging him off of the building. While the other Humans were distracted by their dead teammate, The Boomer throws up bile at the humans, blinding them and attracting a mob of zombies. The Spitter spits a pool of acid right at the ledge area at the very same time, injuring all Humans stepping on the acid. The blind Humans shoot at The Boomer to kill him, but the explosion caused by the death causes two Humans to stumble off the ledge, incapacitated. The final human walks into the pool of acid and goes down.

It's the ultimate display of teamwork by the Infected Team to down four Humans in one single spawn.

They use hit scan, that's what
If when you pull the trigger the target was over the hitbox, which is always larger than the target. It's an automatic hit.
So you can shoot people by aiming at them regardless of if they moved. So Ping becomes a nightmare where you can get hit by something after you are behind cover because of that mess.

Servers run at high tickrates (updates per second) of 60-120 or higher, though replays are only running on 20 or so iirc since it lowers filesize.

The higher the tickrate of the replay, the more position/action information needs to be stored, so a 60 tickrate replay would have 3 times the file size of a 20.

Choosing a 20 tickrate replay (or possibly even lower) leads to weird occurrences where the data isn't entirely accurate as you see in this webm. The position data isn't perfectly accurate, but the replay contains a headshot event so it plays it anyway.

>>
>>934245
To be fair, that's more or less required to have realistic guns in a game. Enemies with hitscan weapons (or just an extremely fast projectiles) means you can't dodge bullets like if you were playing Doom or Quake, so taking damage is now almost unavoidable even for a skilled player. If the player doesn't have some form of reliable healing this forces very slow, careful play as playing aggressively causes you to get cut down. Halo's shield allowed players to play aggressively without being punished for it so long as they were still careful enough to not let the shield break and start taking lasting damage.

tl;dr: Having realistic guns in games heavily push design towards regenerating health.

It's the same problem with speedrunning (almost) every game. If you're not familiar with the game, you wouldn't understand how hard it might be to successfully avoid taking damage in an area or nailing a really hard jump. To a casual player or someone who hasn't played it, a Halo Legendary speedrun might just look like "running through the level and ignoring all the enemies and shit"

and even the two running ones have hard tricks involving getting the enemies to move out of the way so they don't kill the guy. I don't know what Halo you have experience with but running through Halo 1 legendary enemies when they're that close is a challenge.

The move the level 1 pokemon is using does more damage the bigger the difference there is between it and its opponents levels. A level 1 using it on a level 100 makes it broken as shit. HOWEVER, the winning pokemon has a passive ability that allows it to keep 1 HP so long as it has more then 1 HP, so it always survives the hits. Plus it also has an item that restores enough health to fully heal it at the end of the turn. Its a strategy that some call cheap, but its easily defeated with the right pokemon.
>>
>>929042
That last Pokémon looked like a floating ass
>>
>>940615
Sturdy stops the aron from being KO'd if it was at full hp when the attack hit. Endeavor lowers the target's health to that of the user, so it drops them to 1hp. Because Endeavor did a shitload of damage, the Shell Bell heals Aron back to full hp so sturdy is ready to go again

maybe you should try it yourself in an actual 6v6 lobby and tell us how easy it is then? The other team was busy fighting and killing the rest of his team until they saw him headshot their demo. If he had missed a single shot after that he'd probably have been killed; snipers only have 125hp.

Also, that first scout he shot at the beginning would have ordinarily killed him 2 out of 3 times; that's partly why he was so focused on killing the scout first. Scouts are like the sniper's bane.
>>
>>940634
>The move the level 1 pokemon is using does more damage the bigger the difference there is between it and its opponents levels

No, it lowers the opponents HP to match its own. If he had 100 HP and the opponent had 900 it would bring it down to 100.

Pyro burns spys.
Pyro burns scout.
Pyro burns heavy faster than heavy can shoot back (after nurf).
Pyro reflects demo.
Pyro reflects soldier.
Pyro burns/reflects medic uber.
Engineer is only class that stands chance against pyro.

Where is the class "well oiled machine" thing when pyro does 80% of the work in one class. Remove pyro and that would kind of make sense.

No he shot him because the kid burned his patch.

For some reason soft air roleplayers wear fake militaryt insignias and shit and it is common courtesy to return lost patches you find during your romps while playing.

The kid found his patch, and instead of returning it he made a youtube video of him burning it.

This is apparently horribly against some form of weird softairgun nerd code of conduct so much so that he had to honorkill him gently.

the only thing that makes the pyro not retardedly OP is that the range on the pyro's flamethrower isn't anything to make a big deal over. sure the shotgun and the flares are good ranged alternatives, but anyone with a brain can dodge some flare shots, and the spread on the shotgun isn't very helpful. Pyro is awesome only in close quarters but once you get out of range of the flamethrower the pyro isn't so great.

Also the phlogistinator is a shit choice for a smart pyro.

I'm not going to pretend I've delved into the matter, but it'd seem to me it's more about repeated repetition until you get it right.

So, less about skill and more about going through the steps over and over until you manage not to fuck up.
>>
>>944296
What the fuck do you think skill is? Its when you do something over and over again till you can do it without fucking up.
>>
>>944320

Is it skill, or simply memorizing and going through the steps?

Skill would be, say, the ability to play chess with multiple opponents and win because you can judge and adapt to the situation.

These speedrunning techniques are like playing against a single person who always makes the exact same moves, and simply memorizing these moves and the steps you should follow them with.

And that has nothing to do with skill, that has to do with Google and game guides you find online. It's the difference between reading and comprehending a book, and going straight to Sparknotes or something.

>playing a game and getting killed by every third sniper.

If you must resort to FAQs and online guides to avoid getting killed in every encounter, I don't know how you think you have room to argue here.
