it's when after he has a fling with some chick. seemed out of character to me and is probably my least favorite scene of the series. i think they were trying to make him human or something but idk i didn't like it
Oversimplification. Rick realise that his entire life he is nothing but a selfish bastard and ego maniac to a degree that the only woman that he loved left him . he also turned his back on his own grandchildren just to impress a woman This scene shows that although he is a genius he is also auto destructive and depressed , that's also why he is drunk all the time.
I think it's less that he's selfish and more about the fact that his force of personality is just so overpowering that other people can't help but be drawn into his life and just do whatever he wants.
For him, it means that he's absolutely unable to have a meaningful relationship with someone, because he simply, and without any intention of doing so, twists them into a puppet to his whims. When it really comes down to it, Rick wants to be loved as an equal, same as anyone else does, but he's so isolated from the world that's something he can't manage.
In the entire universe, he is completely alone, and he can't seem to help but destroy everything he loves, no matter how hard he tries.
Having been in a relationship like that, that's not super accurate. You both know that you're horrible, so you let each other be horrible. It's so destructive, and at the time you feel like it's right. It's not until you've wasted 6 months of your life that you realize how fucked you and the other person is. Never again. That episode honestly made me cry, more than laugh, because I've been there. Justin must have done the same, because this episode is perfect.
jesus allahu akbar christ op
don't be such a faggot
>out of character
So you're retarded right? This scene reveals/explains why Rick is the way he is and what it does to him. You would literally have to be blind through the rest of the entire series to not get how perfect it is for who Rick is. It's one of the best character building/revealing scenes in the entire show.
So...you are retarded right?
both versions were whiny as fuck, which is normal for NIN but somehow perfect for Johnny Cash. JC's version being superior is like how getting shot in the foot is better than getting shot in the stomach; It still fucking sucks. and I say that as someone who idolized Johnny Cash growing up.
I dunno man, NIN was about teen angst, sure, but with the shitty life Cash had been through(and created), it's really a song of geniune regret and remorse for his actions and mistakes, which is why it's so much better.
Yeah, but it's not really genuine when we all know it's a cover.
I loved johnny cash as a performer, and knowing his backstory and struggles really added to it. When I first heard the song, it was his version, and it floored me. But then hearing NIN's version, it sullied it for me. Instead of him singing about his regrets and trials, he was covering a whiny ballad.
It'd be the same as if he covered "Lonely Girl" by justin bieber and dedicated it to June Carter Cash.
I think you're letting the fact that it's a cover ruin it for you. Sure, it's a cover, but that doesn't change the emotion and truth Cash has with it.
And it's not like Cash just randomly chose a song to cover and happened to sing it really well. I'm sure the song reminded him of some pretty nasty things when he heard it as well, which is why his performance is so powerful.
I mean shit, man, even Trent told people that Cash essentially owned the song after that performance.
Why would they make an extremely niche reference to a youtube animators style in like 2 of his videos.
the joke is that it would be ridiculous to make a resturaunt specifically catered to people with small mouths. and even more so that there are people with small mouths and shit why the fuck am I writing this your fucking post has truely hit a key deep deep within me. Please stop posting untill you are of legal age.

The person you're talking about had a theory that the thing he "melts" and then disintegrates is a Cronenberg from that universe, and that he was trying to find a way to fix its Cronenberg-ness - but he was so distraught over Unity that he decided to disintegrate the Cronenberg instead of continue to save it.
Of course, that presupposes that the alien in question is a Cronenberg and not just some random alien, which is speculation.
I love this one just because of the behind the scenes stuff. I always imagined they did these interdimensional TV episodes by just having the comedians improv whatever they could think of at the time and then had the animators make something to go with it later, and this one in particular makes me think the guy is just going "fucking animate THIS if you're so great"
To be honest I didn't like the NIN selection here. It was too on the nose and lacked any hint of subtlety. Using a purely instrumental track might have been better because it would have highlighted the near total absence of Rick speaking until the very end. But this way we were given bland emotional exposition the entire time
Yeah. In real life, Nazis are respected and acce- oh wait. They lost the war and are only tolerated because in this society, freedom of speech is protected, even if the whole country pretty much thinks they're scum.
>now give me my fucking enchiladas
At the end you can hear the gazorpafield voice actor start to laugh
I love how Rick and Morty keeps in a lot of the voice actor fuck ups. I imagine they have a whole lot of fun making this show
remember when rick raped morty in the shower?
seems like the creators want us to forget it happened
you didn't add anything to the thread
that is shitposting
underage get out and gb2>>>/r/eddit
here you go
You're a fucking idiot. The creator of the show started just like those animators making stupid shorts on the internet. It would be incredibly unlikely if he didn't know who Oneyng was.
how does it feel that some obscure forum about malaysian picture shows is the only place you can voice your opinions without being shunned, /pol/tard?
and even in another board you are getting shat all over, suicide watch when?
DUDE, fuck you for making me feel. That was one of the very few times where I cried from a cartoon. About twice for Cowboy Bebop, then OH, the other R&M where Jerry and Beth both find out life is crazy, shit, special, and can be happy and notice they love each other after all. Wait, that wasn't even the "original" dimension so in multiple dimensions Beth and Jerry love each other underneath it all, then they had the whole cloning thing, the Cronenbergs, in ALL those dimensions they wind up loving each other, hmmm...
Every once in a while, when I feel like I can't accomplish my dreams, I remember that Justin made actual money by saying complete nonsense into a microphone. When I remember that, I remember that anything is possible.
i don't think so
this is a show that subscribes to the multiverse theory, the end of that episode was in a universe were rick passed out. there would be other universe(s) were rick died, or did something else entirely different.
Despite it all he's still his retarded son-in-law.
I never realized how shit the foley work in that scene was. They basically searched for large chunks of ceramic tile being dragged in a bag on their royalty free sound effect site of choice.
I wish that this song wasn't written specifically for this scene. I really like it. If anyone wants the artist its CHAOS CHAOS they also sang the song at the end of season 2 (Do you feel it) when rick goes to jail.
what was the plan here?
was jerry just gonna fuck the open chest and be all like "I'M HELPING"?? how was he gonna cut off his dick and hook it up to an alien with literally no knowledge of how to do it.
If you like Pokemon. Otherwise it hasn't got much else to offer but a few throwaway jokes. But it's definitely a good Pokemon game, albeit far less complex. Wouldn't say it's any less deep though.
What the hell, man. It's one thing that you don't know the song, but it's a whole
'nother level of fucked in your head that you can't type some of the lyrics into google and take initiative.
the show got permission to use the song, I cant remember if it was this song or another knownish song the show got permission for because the artist(s) are fans of the show so they didnt have to pay insane fees to use their music
>tfw no gf to break up with me and make me attempt suicide
They get old after a while.
When he got shot like a million times in the Herzog episode, I actually felt a sense of hope, that they were going to finally kill him off. They could have gotten some good character development out of the rest of the cast, particularly Rick and Beth, if they had done so. I was legitimately upset when he survived.
thats the whole point of his character. he is voiced by that ugly lame comedy actor they gets type casted as the Jerry character in everything he is in. he is so lame and unfunny i dont even know his name but he gets so many parts as the lame guy that funny things happen to
Think of it this way.
The original Jerry still manned up and became a badass that is currently surviving in a post-mantis/cronenberg/date rape potion apocalypse.
You can just pretend that pre-Rick Potion #9 Jerry is the sympathetic one.
>They get old after a while.
who would be the straight man otherwise? morty was, beth/summer have been, jerry is by default.
butt jerry dead, and beth married too principle vagina (no relation) could be great.
Jerry jokes from day 1 boiled down to "ha, look at how pathetic this guy is". It was hilarious at first, and they would be funny if they were spaced out a little more, but that's all that happens when he's on screen. There aren't really any sympathetic moments with Jerry, when he's not being spineless he's being greedy or just screwing over his family.
