I'm not sure what can be done in this case. You could zoom in even more the background with the gaussian blur, but it won't change much.

The guy posts a complex 1:1 image and asks for it to be made it into a 16:9 image.
Does he want it to be stretched, cropped, gaussian blur the background or does he thinks we can perform magic and with a simple click perfectly draw the rest of the picture?

I really wonder what the goes in the mind of these people. Someone should make a tutorial image explaining how these things work.

Well clearly I wouldn't be here asking for this to be done had I had the knowledge or ability to do it myself. And I've seen some of the wp's people have expanded and made look really nice, but perhaps it is "magic" and everyone on the other IMT's are wizards.

There is huge difference between expanding an image with similar pattern or abstract shapes and expanding an image with complex shapes like the one you posted.
I mean, come on you dont need to be an expert to figure these things out, it's practically common sense.

And plenty of people have some experience. We get a fair number of requests where someone has attempted something already and just can't get it right. The problem isn't with them, it's with the ones who expect more than we're capable of providing, for free at least.

Not really sure if this is fitting for the thread since it is not for background purposes, but I figure it's a place I might get a solid answer from since a few experienced editors hang out here.

I have this image which has been upscaled in a trollish way. I want to convert this back to the original size, and get the original (or as close as possible) quality out of it.

This is possible doing it manually with a color picker tool and redrawing each pixel, but that's a colossal waste of time and absolutely not worth it. This is for a learning/experimental purpose more than anything.

So, editors. How would you do this?

Still seems off. For example, look to the left of the eye and down a bit. There's a little green spot 2 pixels high. See it?

3 pixels above that, and one to the left, is a red pixel in the original image. I mean, at a quick glance yours is fine but I'm still hoping to see if there's a better or accurate way other than hand drawing the whole thing. Your scaled picture isn't truly accurate to the original.

Again, the image is shit, but this is more of an experiment than anything. If I find a good solution I can apply it to various other things in the future. If not, no big deal. However with that said your solution simply isn't good enough but I thank you for your time and effort regardless.
