Use rocket dock to store important shortcuts. This way you can keep the desktop completely empty and simply move your cursor to the top to bring up your shit when you need it.

Nanami-tan.info, read up, you're going to have to DIY since there is no real clearcut step-by-step guide.

Ricing isn't all about looks, don't make that mistake.

Figure out what you want. What do you want? a light theme, a dark theme? High contrast? Desaturated? Do you want your eyes to bleed or not? Do you want it to look like a linux distro?

Break it down:
Visual Style
Navigation icons for win/file explorer if the VS doesn't come with it
Icon packs, the easiest ones to install are iPack self-installers
Fonts
Browser, going to need Stylish addon for this on FF

And then you have to consider: how do you use your computer UI? Do you use shortcut keys at all or is it all mouse? You can then start fixing up the look of explorer by keeping what you want and removing what you want.

What about your taskbar? Do you have a small screen and want to maximize space? Autohide it. Do you really need desktop icons when you have start menu and the taskbar itself? The desktop space then becomes a springboard where you can dump stuff temporarily instead of worrying about accidentally deleting shortcuts.

Want virtual workspaces like Mac or Linux but not on Windows 10? Sysinternals has it for 7 and 8.1.

I'd say it depends on how many shortcuts you use, personally I have tons I use so I use ObjectDock+ (for the multidrawer docks), but there are tons of options even directly in rainmeter or just using windows.

Unless you're using an old version you should stop using uTorrent immediately, it was puchased by a large record company many years ago and has been suggested you don't use it since then. A seedbox or some form of tunnel is probably a good idea with whatever you use but unless you're running torrent in a sandboxie setup properly you should ditch it asap.
Decent pape, toherwise stock, probably change start orb if that's 10. At least the one most people use on 10 looks decent.

Not that Anon, but when I see such things posted I try them and keep an eye on my processes if they're taking more than 3-5% of my CPU they get the boot, other than bblean most things do, but I haven't found a need to get rid of explorer and I like the way it functions so there's no need to. Rainmeter just provides me with more information that I want and moving things around where I wanted them (i.e. clock not in bottom right of main monitor only).

Unfortunately I don't care quite enough to sink time into ricing past that when I can just play games. I mainly just want something functional and not looking jarring. I just wish there were some good editable alternatives to Enigma for what I'm trying to do, I can't see myself spending more than the 2 days on dA that I have trying to find them if they exist though.

Honestly I just love it for the customization and the fact that it can play most audio files like .flac or even apple codecs.

It's a little confusing at first but after a while the extra features and tools like ReplayGain control, tag editing and conversion to other formats are all extremely useful.

That rainmeter's really nice, and the pape is pretty cool too. You should really get a copy of displayfusion in a steam sale though. It's nigh-essential for proper multi-monitor configs
