You know, I can't say that I hate her. If anything, I pity her... Homura has no idea what love really is or means(ironically, one of the Clara Dolls is named love... it is missing). She can't, since to do so means to understand that one must be willing to let go and appreciate a person for what they are.

She is emotionally incapable of doing that and, as much as she feels horrible about it, will stop at nothing to ensure she seems to what she feels will make Madoka happy (while ignoring her).

Well, what she pulled is the same as Yuno Gasai of The Future Diaries, you know.... she whom kidnapped the object of her (aggressive) affection and imprisoned him for at least two weeks (with the intention of much long) in a thinly veiled attempt to protect him... among other things.
It's the same kind of mentality, the difference being that Yuno (eventually) comes to at least acknowledge that what she is doing is neither right nor healthy.
Homura is so confident that she know what she is doing is right, that she straight up states that what Madoka wants is of little use to her. The sad part being that due to that... she can't really stop what comes next, and that is the Law of Cycle's returning to Madoka and granting her insight to all that happened.

I don't forgive it, honestly I can't. For all the bluster... punishing Kyubey is not worth the lost of Ultimate Madoka. Madoka at least understands that for all it's directive, Kyubey is a peon... it's just the face of a system, a tool in all senses of the pathetic and litteral. Houmra is far too selfish and her focus far to personal to see it as anything less than THE VILLAIN. And for all that it is worth, Kyubey turns out to be her only "companion" at the end of it all... but by then, they are made for each other.

"Homura did nothing wrong"? Oh no... She did something VERY WRONG.

Maybe she lost shreds of her humanity in the iteration. And looks like she lost common sense of the world while in there. And maybe her will of protecting Madoka waver a bit, but it still there.

I say that because the only way that Homura reaches her conclusions is to simply consider the ability to empathize... a waste.
She is, straight up, tossing her humanity into the gutter simply because she feels it's in the way.

Kyubey is the only other being that manages to think like that, and has showed that is it VERY capable of a great deal of apathy.

Their only focus is the goal... For Homura, that is "To give Madoka happiness. To have her be happy." For Kyubey, it is a laser-like focus on his quota. And both would be damned about the rest.
And I question Homura's motives after Rebellion simply because... if she wants Madoka to be happy, why does Madoka's opinion on that NOT MATTER?

Which is the point.... Homura is so rapped up in her selfish mindset that she doesn't even consider that her thinking might be off based.
For Homura, "Madoka's Happiness" is something of a lie... because the truth is that Homura want's Madoka completely dependant on her, to the exclusion of all else, with no real power of madoka's own.

It makes her own sacrifices in the anime moot, because for the entire show... she was empowering Madoka in her attempts to save her. Madoka's ability to be self-sufficient, and having real power beyond Homura is the very crux of Rebellion... it, and Homura twisting emotions are the conflict,

Personally, I would have to agree with you. BUT... maybe it is me, but I don't feel like getting pretentious about it.
If there is one thing that I feel makes a show like this unattractive, it how some fans react to something like this. So far, Madoka seems to attract a calmer breed of fan than say EVA... at least from what I has seen (Post-Rebellion Homura militarism non-withstanding).

It very good, it's the best that I has seen in a while but it's far from prefect. It will likely be analyzed for years to come, but it seem to have a large base of moderates. Honestly, that is good for any fanbase, and has made enjoy Madoka with other fan's something of a treat.

It does and it doesn't. Honestly, it shouldn't matter... but for me there are times where the buzz and hype in a fanbase are so high it forced me to question the product itself.

I avoid EVA for just such a reason, the show itself is good... but aside from the fact that it kind of meh to me, most of the fans that I come a cross have such a zeal for it that it's hard not to look down on the show itself.
