My controller's gone batshit crazy after I took it apart and reassembled it.
The buttons(mainly the start and dpad buttons) keep pressing on its own and I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with it.
Can anyone help?
here is another pic

Go over the pads with 90% alcohol. The rubber bits should be dull to make best contact. Go over the board with 90% alcohol to remove any grime that might be making contact
You didn't use any dielectric grease on the pads did you? ...I did that once.
op here,
something else I've found was that with the controller stripped down when I wriggle the wire into a certain angle it fixes the problem but also the constant wriggling of the wire causes buttons to be pressed.
it's probably something to do with the wires fuck me cuz i've no skill to fix it lol

The controller itself looks good, how's the connector? Maybe something is fucked in the board itself.
That or the chip is fucked.

The copper inside the cable is broken.
Either solder a new wire to the board and the connector (not sure if you can do this since the connector end is probably premolded plastic), or just buy a new controller.
You could possible buy a broken connector cheaper and just solder the cables over, provided you find a controller which has broken PCB but intact wire.

>probably premolded
You don't have even one NES controller to check?
The problem is probably near the pcb. Just cut and inch off and resolder. Or get an extension cable and cut off the unneeded end.
