Violent fighting to come again!
As a year flew-by from the excitement,
We now declare the opening of our special team tournament
Who is the best team?
and why is it the outlaw team?
The backgrounds were impressive, but I didn't like how SNK did the Capcom cast (Balrog being a sprite-edit of Heavy D!, Hugo's 3rd Strike sprite SNK-ified and not to scale with the rest of the cast, Ryu, Ken & Akuma's sprites ripped straight from Super Turbo etc. etc.).
>Hugo's 3rd Strike sprite SNK-ified and not to scale with the rest of the cast,
I don't see the big deal, he's out of proportion with the rest of the cast in official capcom material too.
Fighting games are the biggest waste of time ever and people who get too good at them are degenerates.
Pieces were in place '96
I heard the game was just rushed to just to oblige to the original contract made, which sucks because this game had a lot of potential and it feels so generic. But the spiritual successor NGBC plays a little better but it could of been a much better game.
SNK All-Star Hero Team
Terry, Kyo and Ryo
would be true if they didn't still hold KOF XIII tournaments on EVO i don't care much for E-sports either desu familia
-New design lead that the fans didn't like
-Mechanics got more complex for absolutely no good reason
-Meta changed in favor of a more 09er friendly flavor.
-The game is too hard for newer players.
yeah my bad thats what I meant and I feel like the game had so much potential that was wasted unfortunately. Same with NGBC so much more could of been done to make the game even better but its fun nevertheless.
it's pretty much SNK just not really existing from 2001 onward
I still like 2002, as dumb as shit is in that game though. It's a relatively back-to-basics KOF with a big cast and is mostly fine. It's no '98, but it's decent and it doesn't have fucking strikers.
2001 is hot ass (but it really does seem like Eolith tried, they just had zero fucking experience). Not the worst fighter I've played by a long shot, but it's not good.
2001's music is also lame as fuck for the dumbest reasons (what the fuck is with these sample choices, I can dig stupid sounding hard electronic music, but even in that context, the samples used are just fucking terrible).
that's all '03 onward shit, but yeah
>-Meta changed in favor of a more 09er friendly flavor.
what the fuck does that even mean
controls haven't gotten stiffer either (fuck, they've gotten less stiff each year, every year)
I liked the SNK-style Capcom cast, but you're right, they do look a bit off. I'm certain it's because the game was rushed as fuck.
Could have been great. As a game, it's worse than fucking KOF '03 and '01.
Controls for XIII are stiff as hell. Still fun and playable, but not quite right.
2003 and XI have far looser and more enjoyable controls, which was what I always liked the series for. Controls which are too tight was why I never really warmed up to Street Fighter.
>Controls for XIII are stiff as hell. Still fun and playable, but not quite right.
What ye talking about? XIII feel a lot more fluid than 98 or 2k2.
Also XI feels stiff as fuck for me, but that might be just emulator doing emulator things.
I can't attest to the arcade version but the PS2 version emulates well in PCSX2 in my experience, the only issue is the 3D stages are busted
The only stiff part I recall about that game is that it is really picky about the timing to press A+C or B+D to switch characters when you're performing a tag combo
I still think that this is Korea Team's best theme.
I also remember rocking Chang back in the later KOFs because Autoguard/anti-projectile ball spin. Not even knowing of shenanigans with CD Free Cancelled specials. And or just ragdolling them with command throw. Fuck, he's fun as heck much like Maxima is.
2000's soundtrack was so fucking good, I should say. Goodbye Esaka and Terry 115 were so good, and I think the Kyokugen Team theme one (Beauty and the Beast, wasn't it?) were fucking great.
KOF 2000 had probably my favorite soundtrack only because of all of the tracks you mentioned and Arashi no Saxophone 4 was good. The game gives me alot of feels since it was the last game made by the original SNK team. Especially that ending shot
"Thank you, with love"
hit me in the feels.
Probably the best Canon NEST game imo.
KOF2000's soundtrack is so fucking good. Easily my favorite in the series, god damn.
2003's pretty loose with the controls, but XI's timing and everything is super off-feeling. Really wish I could get to grips with it, since XI seems like an actually good game.
nah, it's like that on my actual PS2
all the PS2 KOFs emulate pretty well too
XI is pretty lenient compared to 98 and 2002, from what I have played. The free cancels there are nuts and so are which normals can combo off what. But they got the tag mechanic down just right in that game, and the hidden characters and PS2 guests were great. Not quite 2000 Maniac Striker tier but still fucking awesome.
heya guys, sorry I'm late to the party. so, what're we doing?
yeah. probably because them being not-vice and not-mature.
