I recently bought pic related, primarily so that I could sit back on my couch and play the original 2 DOOM games on my Ps3. I have played DOOM before, and although the BFG edition controls like a dream and seems to be largely untouched, It sounds like absolute ass. The guns sound like they are underwater, the enemies are almost silent (including Imps and fireballs), and music is negligible. It is like watching The Simpsons after it has been dubbed over by french voice actors. Anyone else have this issue? Can it be fixed?

I never noticed any of these playing them. Its not 100% like the originals, but i hardly noticed a major difference in sound like you are describing.

This is major. If the actual game wasn't such an enjoyable experience I wouldn't be playing it because of the sound. I'd play it on PC, but the controls on Ps3 are much more comfy

So use your DS3 on pc

As for sound issues, I never had any on the PS3 version of BFG Edition. I think it used the older reload sounds for the SSG, but that's it.
Have you tried plugging in headphones into your TV to see if it puts out proper audio at all?
Otherwise there's also the Classic Complete release, which features more content and overrall is better put together. Controls are the same.

I play with a mouse and one handed gamepad, can lean back and be comfy as fuck.
With modern sourceports there are so many options for input, and typically they can be tuned down for authentic vanilla play.
