I got a Dreamcast yesterday and have been playing Border Down. What's the incentive for starting at the yellow or red border? Is there a scoring difference?
Favorite game right here, check those beautiful, beautiful aesthetics.
I don't usually come to these threads, is Bosconian considered a shmup?
And are there any more games like it?
>What's the incentive for starting at the yellow or red border? Is there a scoring difference?
Daily reminder of how retarded and lacking in initiative or logic your average poster here is. Go watch a superplay or the STG weekly episode on it or even check out the strategy guide on the shmups forum which will have every answer you require.... not so hard is it?
Any other game that can claim to be as fun, balanced and engaging as this one?
Yo, need help.
Im looking for specific shmup, dont remember the title.
Main thing was that there were three types of ships and three characters to choose from at the start of the game.
Some kind of macho guy in his bulky bomberlike ship, really bulby, A grill in her fighter and a crazy doc/scientist in his sleek, fast ship.
Anyone know the title?
Hyper Duel for arcade/Saturn had a guy, girl, and mad scientist, is that it?
I guess I should be more specific.
>played on PC
>3 characters, big guy inna bomber, grill inna fighter, crazy doc inna fast ship
>cartoonish look? For sure not japanise
>upgrade system - collect powerups and exchange them for upgrades any time at the press of a button, the more powerups, the more advanced and different upgrade.
>each of three ships had unique ability/special, remember that docs covered ship in green shield/bubble
>Not sure if retro. It did look old and run on DOS, I think.
>Title may be Operation somethingoranother
Why haven't you played the greatest Euroshmup of all time yet, /vr/?
I dunno, why haven't you anon? Ashamed to admit that Japan does even Euroshmups better than Euros? ^_~*
Does the game "Layer Section" have a sort of auto-centering or is my controller busted? For example, I move right, and when I let off right or left, my ship drifts a bit back the other way. It only does this in certain areas.
I had to scrub the connectors on the controller pretty well to even get it to respond, but I didn't noticed any bad input in any other game.
Helped if I posted a pic, right? Fuck sake.
Good game but I think you're in the wrong thread. Practically everyone here is a bonafide weaboo. Also this isn't really a thread for run n guns or platformers, which are considered different genres from STGs even though a lot of them feature shooting.
Ironically the greatest shmup of all time happens to be of korean, not japanese, origin.
It actually took me by surprise when I found out that the Psyvariar games were by korean devs. Given the country's past efforts in the shmup market which included commercial games that literally ripped graphics from other shmups, the leap in quality, style and originality was nothing short of amazing.
The same devs are also apparently responsible for Sanvein, another batshit insane shooter (if you're willing to call it that) for the PS1.
