Just started playing this game couple of hours in. My MC gets

Uhhh... are you poisoned? That early on in the game there's no rune you can obtain that will do that to you, if even at all. Sounds fishy.

I mean, it's a great game by itself, but a lot of the charm of SU2 is the charm of recruiting the old characters that you used to play with in the first and seeing what they're up to.

I'm just assuming you didn't play the first though, maybe you already did. If you didn't I highly suggest you go back and do that one first and save your data so you can recruit the secret character in 2

I never played the first one and Suikoden 2 is probably one of my favorite JRPGs to this day.

I didn't actually know it had references to the first one. Might just pick that up.. will I miss things from the 2nd one? Although it's been quite awhile..
