Its addicting and a good RPG for the Saturn. Thought Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, or Grandia are the more popular choices

I've tried on multiple occasions to play Dragonforce, but I just can't get into it.

if you like RTS with RPG elements then yes. Something like Fire Emblem but each general you get/have their own armies and its then battling other generals in castles in a rock paper scissors style battles so you have knights but they dragons, dragons have a better chance of winning.
