>>2917921 Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon clone/monster sex simulator Block stacking game Link's drug trip Super Mario Weird+2 Endless Story legends ...all that came to mind really. Pokemon is good too
>>2917921 These things were $5 max in my area a year ago, now they go for ~20 at the same store. It's all these goddamn hipsterfags jumping on the nostalgia bandwagon willing to pay whatever the sticker says. Makes me ill
>>2917956 It's fucking obnoxious, no? I live in a relatively biggish city in TN where the shit was relatively niche until this sudden boom in popularity happened overnight. Like my friends and I can almost pinpoint the day this happened and prices fucking soared. At least SEGA's still cheap
It's mostly resellers taking advantage of stupid people or resellers trying to make a living off this shit. I've seen people try to buy on ebay, then sell that same purchase on ebay at a marked up price and it work before. It fucking baffles me.
Yeah but the SGB2 is Super Famicom-exclusive. Of course, modding a SNES is easy if you've got a gamebit, but still.
Also, the speed thing isn't even a big deal, the games play sliiiightly faster, which I don't actually mind at all, if it was slightly slower then maybe, but slightly faster? doesn't sound bad to me. And still, it's barely noticeable, I never noticed it myself until someone told me about it here on /vr/, I'm still not sure if I can actually notice it. Maybe if I play the game back to back on an original GB and the SGB, but I don't own 2 copies of the same game.
>>2918509 I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that the Super Gameboy plays games about 2.4% faster than normal, so it's barely noticable at all. Nothing significant. If anything that extra bit of speed can help you improve at Tetris.
>>2918004 keep scapegoating a nebulous, potentially non-existent group of people for your own socioeconomic status. Get a job, buy games. Not hard. I haven't paid more than $30 for a used /vr/ game in years.
The GBA player is pretty crunk but I hear the boot disk isn't easy to find anymore.
>>2917952 >suggests an option to let you play actual /vr/ games (GB and GBC) >REEEEEEEEE NOT RETRO!!! Jesus, just fucking kill yourself. Also the GBA is OLEV, can't wait for it to be officially allowed so I can rub it in your face
>>2917954 20USD isn't really that bad for what's essentially a Gameboy.
>>2918509 Well, all that stops the SNES from using SFC carts are those little blocking tabs in the cartridge slot, if you remove the tabs SFC cartridges will fit in there and the SNES will run them with no issues at all. Now, I don't know a lot about the SGB2 but I assume it's shaped like an SFC cart, so it oughta fit with the tabs removed. I don't however know if it'll actually work with the SNES though.
>>2917921 I saw some anons bitching recently that the Super Game Boy slows down whatever game you're trying to play, can anyone confirm/deny? I'd like to play GB on TV, but the Wideboy looks way too overpriced/rare and I never did the Gamecube thing.
>>2922464 >emulating on 8th generation portable >not having "that feel" of inserting a cart into old hardware you need to reevaluate your stance on retro gaming. There is nothing more satisfying than the real thing. That's what this forum is all about
>>2917954 Or it's just people who owned them as a kid finally getting a job and want to relive a part of their childhood naturally driving the price up. I doubt or at least sincerely hope no one actually gets a huge retro gaming collection just because they wanna look cool.
>>2922908 Unlike you my affinity lies in the games themselves, not the format. If the game is there and playable, and I have the controls to interract with it (a gamepad or whatever), that's all that actually matters.
>>2924141 Who even cares, I clicked the link, watched the (short enough) video, thought it was quaint and moved on, I'll probably never see his videos again, but it's not like he shoved it full of shitty injokes, had cringey storyline or made it about his persona/ego.
As far as e-celebs go, he seems incredibly tame, it's not like he's PDP or anything.
>>2925340 You're still stuck with the screen of the GB though. If I have to choose between a small olive green dot matrix screen with lots of ghosting and which is hard to see in a lot of lights, and big clear TV, then I think it's pretty obvious.
>>2917921 If you already have a gameboy advance sp or any device that plays gb/gbc games then no since these carts are getting fairly expensive, that and as it was noted they don't play most gbc games, just black cart gbc games. You're better off getting a gb player for the GC. I got my super gb a couple years back for $1 and I think that's what it's worth, or at least less than $10 since they're a cool device to place your gb game on your snes, especially if you don't own a GC and on top of that, having to buy the GBP add-on with the disc. Aside from that, you're better off playing an emulator or using a gba sp.
>>2927054 >screen still tiny Which isn't a problem, but the context of this thread is playing GameBoy on your TV.
Shame they never gave the GameBoy Color a lit screen, that would have been supreme. Though I guess it was after the GameBoy Light which used a monochrome screen and long before the GBA SP. I guess there's always the SP nowadays.
>>2927170 Yikes that's actually not cheap. Aren't there gamepad adaptors for consoles? Like, I know you're supposed to be able to play on a GameCube with a DualShock 2 with the use of an adaptor.
>>2927328 Well Nintendo just fucking schooled you on that one about two decades ago, didn't they?
>>2928256 >scamlines I don't even like CRTs but for the love of god STOP
>>2929273 lol look at this fag. back in the day there wasn't anyone that would rather play on the tiny ass gameboy screen versus a super gameboy. i remember being super jealous of my friend who had one.
>>2929302 Are you telling us to buy gameboys and every single game ever? Obviously this isn't a very realistic option for everyone. Stretching those super low resolution games on lcd look like shit too, so what are you suggesting?
>>2929243 Kill yourself, just, please kill yourself, you are a bad poster and you're actively detracting from this thread and this board.
>>2929273 >Scan lines degrade game Boy Games I'd say they don't make a goddamn difference.
>>2929302 I hate CRT's, I'm arguing that you're a fat cockgobbler. I'll hook a Super Gameboy up to my big flatscreen and you can't stop me.
>>2929313 >Stretching those super low resolution games on lcd look like shit too Depends on how they're stretched, if the aspect ratio is kept I don't think it'd look bad, I don't mind pixelation, the Super Gameboy adds borders too.
>>2929323 >Gameboy games are not meant to be played with scan lines let alone any TV device Well Nintendo obviously disagrees with that notion given that they developed, produced, marketed and sold the Super Gameboy
