Post the most expensive retro game in your collection /vr/. Come brag about spending huge sums of money on chunks of plastic and cardboard (or finding excellent deals on those items!)

Do we have any high-rollers here who own games like Stadium Events or NWC?

I own shining force CD, shining force 3 (NA), magic knight rayearth (saturn NA) and demons crest.
Those are probably my most expensive games.

Hey we actually haven't had this thread in a little while. Still have this old picture to drag out for whenever it pops up.

>>2911465
As far as "high rollers" go I know we have an anon with Magical Chase, and another with Little Samson. There's a few Duck Tales 2, Bubble Bubble 2, and Chip & Dale 2 floating around.
>>
Battle Mania Daiginjou on the Mega Drive. Only available through mail order via a Japanese magazine. Very good game too.

I have Panzer Saga PAL version, Radiant Silvergun, Alien Soldier JAP version and MUSHA JAP version too.

Quite a few Japanese Mega Drive games are worth a surprising amount these days actually. I didn't pay too much for them 10/15 years ago.

Oh /vr/ what's become of you

Stadium Events and NWC are even less fun than Earthbound btw

>Magical Chase

Having a CiB Magical Chase is pretty much my ultimate collecting goal. I don't have enough money to where I'd feel comfortable buying it now, though. Even if I did, you usually can't just go to eBay with cash in hand and buy one, they're legitimately difficult to find, and it might take some special pleading to get someone to part with it...
>>
>>2911502
>Nintendrones only

I mean sure, if you wanted to talk about all the most expensive games, you'd have to bring in the Atari 2600 library too I figured it was less likely that anyone here owned any of those games though.

Trying to complete my PAL Dreamcast collection, so far I already have the most expensive/rare ones
>Samba de Amigo boxset
>Taxi 2
>Rival Schools
>Cannon Spike sealed

And recently I managed to get hold of the extremely rare Sega Bass Fishing official Dreamcast box which came with the game and the official rod. Out of all places I got it from a friend of a friend of a friend. There aren't even any listings for that on eBay, if I'm not mistaken those were only sold through Sega's online store.
Other than that I'm only missing Evolution 2 from the expensive list, though I'm not really in a hurry to find it.
Btw if anyone here is selling it I might buy it.
>>
>>2911543
I just bought the Tron Bonne strategy guide off eBay. Unfortunately I don't own the game itself yet. :( It's pretty rare to find a complete package that includes the manual and the demo disc.

Mostly picked stuff out that I know are worth ~$100 or more, or stuff for systems that are rare. I have a lot of the rare PS1 games, not so much the RPG's but still some of the heavy hitters. Same deal with the Genesis. Now if only I could find Tomba 1.... I think the most I spent on any of these was the Castlevania, I paid $90 for it.

I would take a pic but i'm not at home right now.

Didn't want to really include anything on consoles outside the sticky but my most expensive game is Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. I also have Chibi Robo which I bought for like $30 and the price just doubled in the last few months.
>>

Yes. We do. Faggot.
>>
>>2912754
I really lucked out by buying Cubivore used for $30 when it first came out. That's my only normal purchase that turned out to be valuable later on.
>>
>>2912564
Eh, I just got in early - a lot of the duplicates I've got (like the Holy Divers) are because of bulk deals.

Probably the most I spent was about $250 on Recca about five years ago; most of the others were pretty reasonable because most people didn't give a shit 10-15 years ago.
>>
Magical Chase guy hasn't posted?

Lets see:

For me I guess right now my top 5 are like

>Mega Man 7 SNES
>Misadventures of Tron Bonne CIB *including Mega man Legends 2 demo disc PS1
>Sengoku 3 (paid 40 with my mvs cabinet), apparently worth like 350
>Rule of Rose (not retro) PS2, paid like 90, its supposedly up to like 200+ now

The top spot is probably kind of iffy. I have Megaman X2 and 3, Chrono Trigger, Sunset Riders and Super Adventure Island 2 on SNES, Sword Master and Gargoyles Quest 2 on NES as probably my next highest. I do have a CIB Steel Battalion for Xbox which may be more expensive over all.
>>
>>2912934

>>2912620
I like Earthbound, a lot, but it's greatest strength is honestly more it's setting and world, and the story.

I also own a few others but those werent deals, those were the ones that i sadly paid Ebay fake prices, welp, except for one who was a "fair" price.
>>
Street Fighter 2 for Virtual Boy (Hyper Fighting). Since it seems people are willing to pay into the thousands for one of these I guess that's my most expensive game.
>>
>>2911502

People don't brag about SE and NWC because they're Nintendo games. They brag because they're rare and expensive. The gold cart is worth more than your entire collection.
>>
>>2913239
>gold cart worth more than an AES collection
good joke

Don't really know what my most expensive game would be. Have a CIB copy of MUSHA around. Sealed copy of Ghost Babel for GBC, an almost complete US saturn collection, PC Engine CD games imported and some other shit.
>>
>>2913239
>The gold cart is worth more than your entire collection

You don't even know what a Neo Geo is, do you?
>>
>>2913260

How much do you think AES games are worth?
>>
>>2913270

Is there anyone who actually doesn't know on /vr/?

Of course I do. These carts are not worth more than 100 bucks each.

The gold cart goes for almost 20k

>>
>>2913326
That's fine, haha. The lighting is shit so it kinda flattened the photo. Goku: Gekitouden.
>>
>>2913274
Not in that particular pic, but these are some expensive ones:
Euro Kizuna sold for $12.5k in 2004, currently valued at $30k, Metal Slug USA version is nuts and I've heard of copies trading at $10k now, loads of $2-3k titles like Chibi Maruko.

Infamously, a fake Aero Fighters 3 traded hands for $30000.

>>2913276
>Of course I do. These carts are not worth more than 100 bucks each.

Put down the crack pipe. That pic has:
Metal Slug X - $1000
Blazing Star - $1600
and many others worth more than $100
>>
>>2913276
>I don't know the difference between AES and MVS

Look it up. Metal Slug on AES = like a grand, Metal Slug on MVS = like 50 bucks.
>>
>>2911502
>MVS games in AES Repro boxes
>>
>>2913485
US version AES Metal Slug is much, much more than a grand. $5-6000 is probably too low even...with the bubble market going it's nuts and I've heard $10000 cited on Neo-Geo.com.
>>
>>2911821
I didn't have much that was rare, but I did have Tomba, as well as a legit European version of Team Buddies

house got burgled in 2001 though, took everything
>>
>>2913260
>good joke

I'd be really surprised if all the games in >>2911502 were worth as much as NWC gold. It looks like there are a lot of titles below $500. If every game there was worth $1000, the collection would almost be worth two NWC gold carts.
>>
I have a very nice copy of PDS. Found it in my couch a couple weeks back.
>>
>>2913641
If they were MVS games that would be one thing, but AES games are much rarer and much more expensive. Most of those games are worth thousands of dollars.
>>
>>2913741
Really?

I admit I know nothing about SNK consoles, but here are some eBay prices I just looked up for a couple games in that picture:

World Heroes 2 - $155
Last Resort - $430
Top Player's Golf - $95.99

What games in that picture are worth more than $2k?
>>
>>2913753
>What games in that picture are worth more than $2k?
There are some pretty nice ones there like:
>>2913474
>Metal Slug X - $1000
>Blazing Star - $1600
But I'm not sure about $2k titles as I'm not really familiar with those other spines in Japanese.

The curse of the X3 label runs deep.

How can you tell? Looks ok to me, the purple arrow in the upper left, the SNS-MB-USA in the lower left the colors on the label look ok (lots of Earthbound repros miss this really tiny purple-white swirl in the blue patch in the upper left)... something to do with the plastic casing maybe?
