I'm sure you meant famous, the game has had a good rep in the genre since like forever.

I wouldn't bother with anything else, even the JA2 expansion pack called Unfinished Business is lackluster. Not that there's anything wrong with giving it a try, I think they're even sold together most of the time these days.

JA2 is one of the greatest games of all time. I like 1 and DG, but play 2 first. If you really end up liking 2, play the first two so you can get into the story and character background more.

stay away from 1.13 on your first playthrough, regardless of what others say. It's not the same game.

I would recommend for new players to start with JA2:UB actually. It is shorter and linear, with all key features of JA2 still present. Just treat it as an expanded tutorial to get your bearing on game mechanics n stuff. Also highlighting vision and danger zone functions are present without modding it, since this is where they were introduced.
