So how do you like your Faris?
Artwork design or in-game design?
Since I see her sprite in game, then her in game one. It's really jarring in most remakes to see her Amano portrait. Same goes with FF6 as well. I wish there was a hack to remove them.
In game by far
Amano's FFV designed looked all kinds of wrong.
I never played this but obviously the blonde one is better. She looks interesting, whereas the other is Anime Nobody #9383784.
Old Final Fantasy games really did a terrible job at keeping this stuff consistent though. It's bizarre that anybody would work so hard as to produce a big game like that, only to mess up such a basic, obvious thing as making the characters look like themselves. Just, like, have the sprite guy look at the Amano images once. Or write down a few basic points for Amano to match his stuff up to. "She is blonde, oh great portrait master Amano-sama." There crisis averted. Is it really that hard. :(
Id rather one for 5. At least in six they KIND of look like the sprites.
I don't know what the fuck is going on in 5 though. Color me crazy but I don't think Butz is the type who wears fancy silks and make up and Faris is quite clearly not blond
>I never played this but obviously the blonde one is better. She looks interesting, whereas the other is Anime Nobody #9383784.
>implying the bonde one also doesn't look like an Anime Nobody, just in a variation of the Tatsunoko style
My first exposure to FFV was the GBA version with those terrible portraits, so I didn't doubt for a second Faris was a girl.
But I replayed a bit of the PS1 version today, and I can see how without portraits, how Faris could be perceived to be a man. Infact, I like that much better than her being a obvious female.
In-game, but I've always liked Amano more for his monster designs than his human characters anyways.
That's your opinion, imo the purple haired girls looks VASTLY better and more interesting and I wouldn't be surprised if you were all alone in your ridiculous opinion. Don't do shitposting, is that really hard.
>I never played this but obviously the blonde one is better.
If you never played it you can kindly shut up because that blond mess is supposed to represent THIS
Amano is a very talented artists, that's not really up for debate but he was a horrible choice for this game because not only do the characters not even look close to what the game sprites do it's just, well five is a silly game and there's just no humor or anything to his designs. He works better on the more serious titles
You can't always put what he draws into the game though.
Look at how over designed his shit is. He knows what systems he's designing for and Square had to have told him what they wanted before. Im not really sure what the order for these things is but I doubt the sprites where pulled out of someone's ass design wise.
No matter how you shake it he's the one not playing with the rest of the team.
and like I said there's also the issue of tone, and setting which he does not mesh with at all.
But that still doesn't change the fact that it's a mobile port and the touch interface remains. I was almost tempted to play VI modded so the shitty filter is off till I remembered that.
Amano's artwork is always amazing
>tfw we will never get a modern FF-game where everything looks Amano like the movie Angel's egg
I like most of Amano's stuff but he really dropped the ball with the FF5 party.
If we're picking shit apart, can we talk about how Krile's sprite is the only one looking directly at you?
I think he allo did a bunch of illustrations for Michael Moorcock's stories.
