I bought mine used in 1999 with 3 controllers, a memory card, and Wipeout 3 complete for $75.

$299????
in USD?????
you sure about that?

Funny how they're about 10% of the price now
Rosenkreuzstilette is a Rockman clone, and I swear it goes quite a bit further than simply copying the gameplay of old games. I suspect it outright traces sprites entirely and only makes little changes. This dragon I've seen somewhere before. I want to say Final fantasy 5.
Can anyone identify it?

Pretty sure traced or modified sprites with only superficial changes violate copyright laws and can't be re-sold.
Yes, people are really this retarded.
I'm curious though, why did the analog button actually need to exist? Was it solely for games that gave you the option of using d-pad or analog? Games that didn't support analog just used the d-pad by default anyway, seems kind of weird to include the button instead of just coding the controller to accept both analog/-dpad inputs in games that support both.
>>4195109
In my defense, I didn't know either until I got AC3, but fuck, people are retarded. My excuse is that I didn't know any English at the time, but whoever made that picture probably uses 90% emojis while writing.

So you can disable it and avoid accidental inputs.

The GBA version is a fine port for what it is but there's not really any reason to not play the original these days.
Shit thread. Kill yourself.
you cant even fucking bonk over pits in the GBA port, which was an intended mechanic in the original. i wonder what how much bath salt they did at nintendo HQ the day they decided to patch that out?
So, is it correct that all those bromides were added by Working Designs and are not present in the japanese versions?
I play these games with the "Un-Worked Design" patches from romhacking.net which revert enemy stats and scaling back to what they are in the original version. Can I just ignore the bromides and their stat boosts?
Nope, WD only added a few joke bromides as an extra.
what's a bromide?

If you can achieve setup A is it worth it to attempt to create setup B?
No, but it is worth it to create seteup C: consumer CRT with original hardware. You know, like how they were meant to be played.

No, but get a Pi instead. Better emulation capabilities, more compact and you can even choose your UI.

This is better than Daggerfall.
>>4192346
in retrospect, yes.
daggerfall is one of those rare cases where a video game actually DOES age poorly. it introduced a lot of cool things, and because of this, it had a big novelty value when it was new. now that the novelty has worn off, what remains is an extremely broken and unfinished game, with awful AI.
arena, on the contrary, is actually a solid game, and it manages to show a world that feels more alive than the one in daggerfall. instead of the nonsensical random terrain outside DF's towns, we actually have a living countryside with roads and farmsteads and stuff.
I mean, both games are still fun to play, and I still play both from time to time, but in retrospect, arena is the better game.
>>4192383
I tried both game 7-8 years ago and while Arena might be a solid game, it felt like a really old game to me especially in comparison with Daggerfall. Of course Daggerfall has a lot of flaw, but it didn't bother me as much as Arena UI.
Arena is still solid, but lacks content and the combat/quests (most of the gameplay) gets repetitive quick.
Daggerfall on the other hand is great at first because it's such a huge step up from arena in terms of adding content and detail, but is ridden with bugs and almost seems like too much unnecessary sh1t
I just found this cool site with lots of Pokémon info!

Step 1:
Go to HG101
Step 2:
Find an ill-informed opinion, or false information
Step 3:
Post it here.
Why?
>>4189510
Site is sloppy, with writers often just some 20 something who fired a game in an emulator played it for a bit and then wrote their opinions down. They make little errors all the time, and occasionally some big ones, and despite being called "Hardcore gaming" they whine about petty bullshit that isn't a big deal.
Step 1:
Realise the only entertainment you find in life is stoking your hate boner over things that don't matter. At all.
Step 2:
Kill yourself.
Why is /vr/ so anti-shader? Everywhere else on the net people are very positive towards them.
You'd swear the people here were molested by shaders during their youth or something.

>yfw you liked Vincent before he got uber popular
How the fuck did he get so popular years after the initial release of FF7? He's the second most popular character in the game aside from Cloud.
He was in a fighting game, he was given a spin-off game (which fucking sucked ass), he was given a somewhat major role in the movie (movie also sucked ass).
eh who cares?
he was fun in ff7 with sniper cr, deathblow and added cut
He was ahead of his time with the trench coat wearing Matrix school shooter meme.
Such is the only reason to like him, his stats and limit break are shit for normal play. All you would use him for is just to piss about with damage overflow which any character (apart from Aeris iirc) can do anyway
>>4188317
His limit breaks were fun as fuck for anything but boss fights.
It's only hard to beat if you play 2 players. Literally

You were a fucking kid.
because most people are shit at video games
>>4187950
The first two stages are piss easy, so it takes people by surprise if they were expecting the whole game to just be a casual belt scroller.
Do you think game designers of old were overall more clever than modern game devs, or do you think a lot of classics just stumbled their way into good design decisions by chance?
>>4184393
I think those computer panels mean nothing. and you're really supposed to x-ray that shit or waste some super bombs.
I think the third one is a total coincidence. You enter the room, can tell it's clearly not a full room and then bomb around to see where you can go.
>>4184393
>do you think a lot of classics just stumbled their way into good design decisions by chance?
This. Game design consist in trying things and see if they work.
Modern game designers build over the work of others.
