Okay, this is kind of a dumb question, but...
We all know Poison is a trans girl, but what about Roxy? Is she trans or cis?

Something about avoiding problems in the US caused the sex change to trans, but IIRC even the creator said it's a she

The creator obviously has some weird hangups about trans people, but she's trans. The earliest known concept art for Roxy/Poison identifies them as "newhalf."
Depends on the source.
Alright, I'm trying Retroarch for the first time, and while I'm able to play the games and use my saves from other emus and so on, there are some settings I'm trying to access/tweak and I was wondering if anyone knew how, since I'm getting nothing from google.
1. How do I access cheats? I usually just brute force my way with Cheat Engine when an emu doesn't have cheats and I want to use them for whatever reason, but the Retroarch settings can download cheat database files. How do I access them?
2. Can I manually assign thumbnails to my games? It's annoying that hacks and fixes (like the Super Mario All Stars brick physics fix) mean Retroarch no longer recognizes them as a "proper" game. I'd like to manually restore their thumbnails if possible, I regularly apply translations, hacks and fixes so this makes the rom list look messy.
3. More of a curiosity, is there any point to the music/video player features? The music one opens up with this huge visualization that I want to turn off but can't seem to be able to, and the video player just... plays videos. Is this like an extra or is there a point to it?
4. The most important thing, is there ANY way to more easily navigate the rom list? Keyboard doesn't work for this (ie I can't jump to "Zelda" by pressing "z"), and it seems all I can use is the arrow keys and page up/down. Hardly useful when you have a full romset, there MUST be a way around this. It's driving me nuts, and it's actually keeping me from using Retroarch since it's such a hassle to select a rom unless it starts with "a".
Thank you guys.
Go to reddit.
Seriously, they will help you while the people here will just REEEEE at you.
>>4190531
You can jump to different letters by hitting the shoulder buttons
>>4190592
Well, I'm not going to create a reddit account just to ask questions about Retroarch, especially since the only reason I tried Retroarch out was seeing posts about it here all the time lol. Hopefully someone else will reply.
>>4190635
I'm not using a gamepad, only a keyboard. Any way to do it with a keyboard? I thought pressing the keys would be a given, but...
Anyway, I found out how to manually assign thumbnails to games, changing the names of the pictures Retroarch downloads to its "thumbnails" folder does the trick. You just need to change the name of the game to the rom title as it appears in the Retroarch playlist.
Retroarch still won't register hacks that aren't included in the (I guess) goodtools or something, but I found this script that bypasses that restriction: https://pastebin.com/SrwNJ48s
Haven't actually tried it yet, though.
The other questions are still unanswered, any Retroarch experts around?
Considering that the term nostalgia was originally the name of a crippling mental disorder afflicting people with a desire to relive the past, how does that relate to how many people here view the hobby of retro gaming? Many are actively chasing the sensation of nostalgia, are they desiring to be mentally ill?
One week back into school and the Psych 101 freshmen are here to diagnose us.
People get old. They have less time/willingness to get into something new. So they spend time on things they're already comfortable with.
Idk if I'd call that an illness. Seems pretty average.
I like old games and i don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about that.

Got some questions about my Amiga. Vintage computing/computers general while we're at it.
I picked this up a while ago. I want to refurbish it to a much more usable form.
> What I've done so far:
-bought original power supply and mouse
-removed faulty RAM expansion that it arrived with
-replaced the broken floppy drive with a working one
I know I'll need a new RAM expansion for some software, and I definitely want to clean + de-yellow it. I have some questions for /vr/ though:
What software do people recommend outside of the common/multi-platform releases? Also, perhaps someone could help me diagnose this issue: I launch 'Another World' (Out of this World in the US) and it boots to the code wheen screen just fine, but then refuses to take my inputs. I asked on another forum and they said this was likely due to a lack of RAM. Is this a likely cause? If so, how can I check what games require extra RAM, for future reference?
Any other suggestions for how I should refurb it/what software I should buy/what else I can do with it?
>>4185757
What kind of input are you using? Do you use a proper atari db9-compatible controler?
>>4185803
Don't currently have a compatible controller. The game is compatible with kb+m, if that's what you're referring to.
>>4185807
Ah okay.
I never played to another world on the amiga (only snes), but with the exception of a few games, all the games I've played on my amiga required a controller.
I dare say they are even better as platformers than their 16-bit incarnations.
I liked Sonic 1 and Chaos, but never liked 2.
The level design is bad.
2 wasn't bad after that first level. What were they thinking?
It's just that the 16-bit versions are much, much better. I like 1 a lot, but not 2.
8-bit had the better Scrap Brain theme:

What's the best option for a starter in Crystal? I liked some of the newer games on the DS so I thought I would go back and emulate the older versions as well to try them out
It is up to preference but chikorita will be the hardest if you plan on using your starter
Probably cyndaquil since totodile only got gud after the physical/special split.
There are plenty of water types to take his place, Suicune, Gyarados, starmie, azumarill if you want a qt

I think he's a "Juggalo", based on how fat he is, the Hot Topic pants he's wearing & how fat his girlfriend is.
He also failed to dress like a ninja, since he's wearing a Naruto head band, Tripp Pants, a t-shirt and a emo wrist band.
