some of the games that I run using POPStarter have missing textures/fucked up graphics. is it fixable?
>popstarter
Might as well emulate on your computer dude
>>3751734
CRT > inaccurate emulation
nope but it's cool to see how broken some games are, try the ridge racer games, they get some really fucked up geometry
What if Super Mario was Super Maria
Giana Sisters?
What if this board wasn't plagued by such low quality threads?
>It's a thinly-veiled waifu thread.
I did it guys!
I finally beat Abyss in Star Wars Podracer!
It only took me like a hundred tries!

Anybody ever tried making custom boxes for their loose games, kinda like pic related?
Figured it might be a fun way to work with the hands, make a bit more of a hobby out of the collecting process.
Thoughts?
I did the cassette thing for 4 of my gameboy games, turned out pretty nice. Need to get off my butt and do the rest, and that means going up in the attack to dig around fer more cassettes.
>>3751059
Heh those look better than actual snes boxes with that hideos red and black border

>SRW4
>Super Robot Gakuen cover art
>Rushbird from SRWL on the side
F-, see me after class.
I've always found Sega's 8-bit home games to be bland and garish in the audio, visual, and gameplay departments. What worthwhile exclusives and multiplats best played on the GG or SMS might change my mind? Was it all just shit? Am I shit? Help me understand, /vr/
Phantasy Star is pretty much the only worthwhile 8 bit Sega game. For everything else you're better off with an NES
Horseshit. Lucky Dime Caper, Tails Adventure, Sanic 1&2, Psycho Fox, there's lots of good Master System and GG games
>>3751060
>Psycho Fox
This.
Also had a great time with Asterix.
Why did she get away with what happened to Burmercia?
>>3751003
We've been over this. Because It was Brahne who was responsible and she got fuck killed. But go ahead and keep asking because you're and edgy twat.
shit game desu

>edgy
I feel like that word lost its meaning being used so many times
Anyone wanna talk about Game & Watch?
I never had one so I can't comment. The character was pretty cool in Smash though.
>>3750979
Depends if it's interesting talk or just another "OMI i just lurved game x the grafix wer so great and the game play wuz better then anything on any playstation" circle jerk.
I've been looking into making replacement screens for these. I used to prototype LCD displays in the 80's so this isn't just some fantasy. I had access to some very nice/expensive equipment back then but I've been able to come up with a similar process using stuff many home experimenters have.
It's not economical as it's labor intensive and you could get the same thing done professionally for a couple bucks if you're willing to order 1,000 pcs. But for proof of concept and testing it's useful.
>>3750979
One of my old high school teachers had a pretty nifty collection of them
I've never played one myself and the prices of them are smyrocketing so i doubt i ever will, but they're novel little devices and i can see while people like them
They definitely stand out amongst all the other shitty monchrome LCD games from the 80s like the tiger games and Konami ones. My favorite ones are those 2 player ones that come with the controllers that wind up. You'd never see anything like that today with so many mechanisms, my autism could be kept in check just by fiddling with the device alone.
What are some retro games with deep crafting systems; weapons, armor, jewellery, etc. It doesn't matter the genre or platform.
Star Ocean 1 and 2 are all that come to mind. In 2 you can craft a bounced cheque that constantly drains your money until you sell it to a shop (and you have to pay them to take it!)
Legend of Mana has fun crafting systems. You can make weapons, armor, instruments, and golems. You can also raise pets and grow food.
>>3750990
Seconding Star Ocean. The third one turns it up a notch by making the ultimate weapons so goddamn awful that equipping them is a really bad idea.
Until you start some item crafting to polish them up.
Guys, in trying to track down a game an older coworker can't remember. He puts the timeline between 1984-1986.
Things he has told me:
-it's probably a console game (most likely NES)
-you play as a "regular dude", it appears you're wearing jeans and a t-shirt
-In the first game, you start by falling in a hole the very first thing you would see was a rock. If you tried to interact with it, it would kill you. Then you would go through a few screens, encounter a "beast", and it would chase you back through those screens and you would have to remember all the things that could kill you
-there were sequels to the game. In the second or third one, you could get a gun that could charge up and create a force field you can shoot through
-he said its "2d sidescroller with the illusion of 3D"
I'll update as he remembers things. Pic unrelated.
He also said he's almost certain that there were only 3 games in the series, years apart.

I'm trying to figure out a game whose title we have no idea about. How am I going to provide a related picture? I'm also on my phone.

Favorite Retro fighting games?
Been whored out by Capcom, but I still love the original for SNES
would have been nice if it came out in the states

Donatello is top tier.
>Dat reach.
Why did Europe make all the best retro vidya music?
This is bait but I want examples. Post proof that eurotrash make better game music.
>>3750745
Maybe not better, but there are some fucking fantastic tunes to be found.

You can only play one old game for the rest of your life. What do you choose?
>>3750562
Pokemon Blue, I just find it to be a very relaxing game to play even though I've already beaten it at least ten times.
If I can only choose one then I might as well drop the hobby altogether and actually do something productive with my life.
>>3750562
It's not like something is gonna change in my life if it will become the sole game.
Oh wait, no HoMM II.
Question for collectors:
I've been hunting for a new copy of Vib-Ribbon for ages now. I literally haven't found one anywhere in years.
I finally found one for sale on eBay but I didn't expect the price to be this high - the starting bid is $120 (no bids yet).
If that's the going price then I'm certainly willing to pay (especially considering this is the first time I've ever seen it for sale) to have it in my collection but I just want to ask if you guys think it's a rip-off.
Also if anybody else is interestedplease don't outbid me I don't want to spend more than $120 on this ;_;
>>3750550
Considering how easy it is to get a refund if a used game doesn't work I don't really see the point in wasting the money on a new copy. Save yourself some cash and just get a good looking used copy (or better yet get a modchip and a stack of CD-Rs)
>>3750550
Why does it have to be new? Used Japanese copies are pretty cheap. A used PAL copy will run you a bit more, though.
>>3750553
I appreciate the answer but it's I do already own this game. I'm looking for a sealed copy for my collection
Discuss
I feel like growth items have a negative impact on the game considering what kind of person is attracted to this type of game in the first place.
>Go nuts making units.
>Have a Magnus unit with paladins in front, freyas in back.
>Wizard unit with three archmages nuking everything, two skeletons in front.
>Swordmaster/ninja unit
>Dio's unit packing Cataphracts and archers.
>Flying hawkmen unit
>Doll Master/Golem unit with Paul
>Freya only unit with Leia
>Black Knight unit led by a Stratos
>Zenobian unit
>Random special character unit with Troy, that cleric and beast tamer, Lidel, and that one other chick.
>Still can only deploy six units at a time.
This was a crime, you can never have enough units on the battlefield to actually feel like they're fighting a war, it's always one or two bee lining for the goal and liberating towns along the way.

Don't tell me what to do faggot.
