The game takes place in Chicago during December 1941, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The game character is Theodore "Ace" Harding, a retired boxer working as a private eye.

The player awakes one morning in a bathroom stall, unable to remember who he is. The bathroom stall turns out to be in Joe's Bar. A dead man is found in an upstairs office, and Ace is about to be framed for the murder. There are some clues as to the identity of the murdered man and to the player himself. A strap-down chair, mysterious vials, and a syringe are found, suggesting (together with a needle mark on the player's arm) that some kind of elaborate torture has taken place.

These kind of games are too hard. It's just a lot of clicking on items and guessing what to do with each one until you happen to get lucky and guess the dev's obtuse logic.

This isn't Sierra's games, anon. There are some guesses yes, but nothing that extravagant. The only part that got me in Deja Vu was using the truth pills. Shadowgate got me with finding the damn holy water to use on the hellhound.

The only home port of Capcom The Punisher for Sega Genesis had really ugly graphics and sound for some reason. Shame as it's a great game.

I am interested in repairing some rechargeable battery packs that I got for original systems. I have a PSOne third-party rechargeable battery (which goes with the screen and fits underneath the system) and I also have a Nomad battery pack (Sega original rechargeable, MK-6102, listing NiMH cells inside on the back label).

Neither one holds a charge, but I know people have replaced the cells inside before on rechargeables like these and gotten them to work again. As far as I know, it involves getting in there, removing the old packs, and inserting new packs in their place, making sure to match the voltage closely (though I'm not 100% on how that works).

I'm already planning to do some solder practice on some cheap junk electronics (since I'm sure that will be required at some point in this), but I want to make sure I have the theory down right for the process I want to do. Is replacing the cells on a rechargeable battery feasible in this way? And if so, how do I really know that I've gotten the 'right' battery? The nomad is a confusing one for me in that regard, the power supply is 10V 0.85A, while the 6-pack of AA batteries is 9 volts (by merit of the battery voltage) but then I also learned that not only do alkaline batteries drop off from 1.5 to lower voltages as they run, but rechargeable NiMH AAs run at 1.2V the whole length of the charge. And then I read that electronics seem to run at a range of voltages along the length of the battery output, and yadda yadda yadda, some more details in there, but in general it sounds like voltage is really variable, so how do I really know what is correct or incorrect?

If it involves telling me to go research electronics then that's fine, but some direction would really be appreciated as I'm not sure what part of the field to study for this info.
>>
>>4207405
Easiest thing for you is to just replace the batteries with ones that are the same voltage and be done with it. You can learn the irrelevant but related stuff later.

I recently bought and fixed a model 2 genesis and the only issue I found was there were wires connecting directly from the dc to what is labeled "CF1"
Removing the wires and resoldering the dc port fixed it entirely and there were no issues. I just want to know the purpose of why they did this.

Is it the one by Retrohq? I ordered mine last week, waiting for it to arrive. How are you liking it so far?
>>
I tried it a while ago and came to the conclusion that it's a bad game. I never figured out what causes new games to unlock, and many of the games are bullshit hard.
>>
>>4206791

Only stores like 8 games into RAM, other than that it's perfect. I was order 50 something, no idea how fast the guy is pumping these out.

>>4206870

That's why I'm asking here. Rotating the stick seems to make a pan fall out of the ceiling & hurt Poke-kun. I'm debating whether I should buy a physical copy so I can use the google translate app on the manual.

So I found my old SNES in a box in the attic and when I tried it out it just showed a black screen.(but different shade than the regular no video black screen of the CRTV with nothing hooked up).

I opened it up for cleaning and fixing. Inside I used my multimeter to measure the voltage regulation module. I bridged the input and output pins instead of either of those to the central ground (the correct way).

I put it back together and now the SNES won't even turn on (no power light). What kind of damage was caused and how do I fix it?

Fug, I should have desoldered the reset switch and see if that was causing it.

You realize it's never going to get better, right? Fucking author's so busy getting together three batches a year he's barely touched the software side. Plus even with improvements the parallel port speed will still gimp it.

I'm looking for an NTSC Playstation to install the PSIO on, which is more or less a flash cart for the Playstation. To do this, the Playstation needs to have a parallell port, which was removed on later models since it was only used for piracy-related things. I have consulted Wikipedia's chart on comparison of Playstation models ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_models#Comparison_of_models ) and decided to select the last Japanese model that had a parallell port, which is SCPH-7500. I have been told that the PSOne had better RGB-encoders and therefore better image, and I assume that the newer the original Playstation is, the better the image should be. However, on the chart it also states "Major manufacturing cost reductions took place from this model onwards.
The number of memory chips and CD-ROM controllers were reduced, other components were simplified, especially on SCPH-750x.", making me want to consult /vr/ too regarding this.

tl;dr What Japanese revision of the original Playstation with a parallell port should I get?

I also just remembered that the original Playstation had an internal power supply. Is any aftermarket switching PSU available, and do you need a specific PSU depending on what revision you get?

I hate that my favourite games are all retro and that games I grew up with are considered retro. This board is just a constant reminder that I'm old.

How do I get into Fallout 2? The beginning with the temple really bored me.
70 posts and 12 images submitted.
>>
1. Get a mod that lets you skip the Temple of Trials.
2. Head over to Klamath as soon as the game starts and pick up the Pipe Rifle from the shack on the northeast side of Klamath.
3. Run over to The Den and murder Tubby and Flick with the Pipe Rifle for all the weapons, ammo, and items you could ever need to start off.
>>
The temple takes like 5min, just run through...faggot.

It shouldn't be too hard for players with Fallout 1 experience.
