Would love to know more about the game pictured here, if anyone has any information.
It appears to be an arcade fighter with Sega Activator esque motion detection based controls (???)

I believe that's Mortal Kombat set up in such a way that two guys behind a one way mirror play it while gullible children flail around like morons.
Game is Tekken 3, no idea what the dumb motion controller setup is though
That's clearly Tekken 3

Tolone any day, because she reminds me of Ruri.

he's the real badass character bruh
I've never played a Fire Emblem Before, never been much of a strategy game kind of guy, but I'm trying to give it a chance.
It's also the first game I've played with perma-death. Is there any reason to keep all your units alive? Like, does this affect the ending or something?
I've been throwing the battle every time someone dies and i'm starting to get fed up with doing that.
>>3760797
I don't recommend playing fire emblem 1, the interface in the famicom games are frustratingly archaic. Mystery of the Emblem on the super famicom (FE3) is a better place to start and half of it is actually a remake of FE1.
>Is there any reason to keep all your units alive? Like, does this affect the ending or something?
No, not really. Every unit has their own one-sentence epilogue if they're alive but that's it.
I highly recommend playing from start to finish without resetting at all in every Fire Emblem game you play. Play safe with your main characters and judge risks accordingly for others. You'll generally have plenty of replacement units to fill in after a death.

>I highly recommend playing from start to finish without resetting at all in every Fire Emblem game you play.
Very few people play this way, but it's not necessarily a bad idea. It certainly makes things more thrilling, although also more frustrating when a useful unit dies.
I usually only restart if one of my best units dies, if it's some fuck I just recruited I don't care.
Not retro, but if you make it to awakening don't even bother with the permadeath. In that game the dead characters don't actually die, they're just too injured to keep fighting. Mechanically it's the same but it really removes the dramatic effect. This was the first FE I was determined to play without resets, so finding out this was how it worked really rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm on an NES binge right now, I've even started games that I've previously beaten the remakes of. Also I'm too far into the game to turn back now. But I will stop trying to keep absolutely everybody alive, just the ones I like instead.
Now that you mention it, I actually did start the SNES remake, I just dropped it quickly because other games stole my attention away.
>Play Puyo Puyo on the Mega Drive
>Play Puyo Puyo Sun on the N64
>Play Puyo Puyo Box on the PSX
>Play Puyo Puyo Fever on the Dreamcast
>Play Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary on the PSP
>Play Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary on the PSP
>Fastforward to today
>Play Puyo Puyo Tetris on the 3DS
>MFW I'm better at Tetris than I am at Puyo Puyo
>I've never played Tetris until now
Can someone explain to me how that works?
Tetris is easy and for babies.
>>3760630
Because Tetris is fucking easy why do you think it's the most well known and popular "puzzle" games of all time? Literally anyone can pick it up and play it
>>3760712
My mom really liked Tetris
What are some urban legends and rumors you remember hearing about in Super Mario Bros? The kind of shit that that one kid whos uncle works for Nintendo would talk about but was never able to show you. ones that stand out for me are
> jumping over the goal post at the end of the level and getting something cool.
> jumping in the right spot in stage 1-1 to get into the sky. (literally told to me by my uncle. never trusted him after that)
I wonder if this can be more gay than those oot rumors
I only wish I remember the rumors surrounding early NES games, I only recall the rumors around Pokemon Red/Blue, Ocarina of Time, and Tomb Raider.
The closest thing I can think of is that the loch ness monster in Super Mario 64 could attack you if you provoked it.

>> jumping in the right spot in stage 1-1 to get into the sky. (literally told to me by my uncle. never trusted him after that)
Was this maybe after SMB3 released?
Name a better political game
Protip:you can't
>>3760550
don't bring shitty politics or memes from /v/ please
fuck off to /v/
>>3760578
>Don't bring shitty politics
You mean dead political arguments from over 30 years ago, in a country you don't live in?
>Or memes from /v/
I don't use /v/, and the joke was relatively harmless anyway.

A week ago, an anon told me on here that he knew Loboto3 - the guy currently working on implementing Resident Eevee's translation to Mizzurna Falls.
I've been trying to figure out how far along this guy is but I can't find squat. Maybe someone out there knows something.
http://projectmizzurna.tumblr.com
Can't wait anon
Apparently the guy working on it doesn't give many updates and takes his time with projects so I'm not expecting it anytime this year.
Don't you mean Gemini? Or is that just his YouTube handle?
Hard mode: the game uses 3D polygons.
Every Model 2 and 3 game.
This is the most elegant low poly game I've seen, I think.
So, with the new RE7 out, and the game doing somewhat decently among the masses, I ask of /vr/ this...
Were games like "RE: Gun Survivor" and "Alien Resurrection" ahead of their time? Or just as flawed as when they came out? Can we look at them with a different viewpoint, having been through a decade of shooters when the FPS-on-console genre became more refined? How do they hold up, in comparison to platformers and RPG's from the era they were released?
I figure maybe we can get some sort've discussion going about how the developers vision may have been more successful given some refinement, or having not pioneered the field.
And the famous "Alien Resurrection" review, in hindsight.
Wasn't survivor supposed to be a lightgun game that had that feature removed in the final release?
Dead aim was fucking ahead of its time
That game was weird as fuck, light gun shooter with free third person exploration
Thank you guncon 2
I cant control this shittt AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>3759927
Are you emulating? Tank controls work much better on a keyboard than a pad.
Not him but I never managed the quick-dodge move consistently myself.
>>3759931
yes i am emulating, am i just stupid?
The old thread is gone and I was just needing some help.
I ordered a Genesis Flashcart from TaoBao and used google translate to get through the account creation.
Now I can't figure out how to log in to Alipay. They never asked for an email so I think my account is my phone number.
I doing a password reset but it doesn't send a code to my phone.
If someanon wanted to be a dear and post a quick noob guide to taobao I'd be very thankful
Why use taobao over AliExpress?
Description of the whole "agent" thing
Etc
I've tried registering on Tao like a year ago and the confirmation should have been done via SMS code for Alipay, but it turned out that they didn't send them for numbers outside of Chinkland and that was the only way. Maybe it has changed since then, dunno. But what I really want to say is
>Why use taobao over AliExpress?
literally no reason. They have flashcarts in stock now, and the prices are the same. The repros are a bit cheaper on Taobao, but that's it.
Anyways, if you want to stick with Tao, good luck, maybe some other anon will be of more help than me.
>>3760062
I probably should have looked at AliExpress, but both sites were new to me. I can log in to TaoBao with an account I made there, then click on a "paypal" button that takes me to Alipay and logs me in to see my account.
I get this message telling me I need to confirm. If I click on that site it brings me to another page that says I should not confirm until the item is received or I could loose both.
It's really confusing.
Why /vr/ hate the Metroidvania?
Only because "hurr not real Castlevania durr"?
So why /vr/ don't hate Sonic Adventure
/vr/ DOES hate Sonic Adventure
>>3759601
This. Also Sonic was a shit series to begin with so bad games getting a little worse is different than great games getting much worse.
It's just a loud and autistic minority.
So have we every had an IRC or anything>?
..would anyone even be interested in having one
I feel like it would be pretty appropriate
>>3759585
Not videogames.
>>3759590
Neither are CRT's.
>>3759590
Shut up faggot, this is why this board is going to shit, it's because of people like YOU.
I would personally like an irc channel as long as the rules are a tad bit more flexible, because of the nature of irc, one topic may lead to the next and etc etc. So some off-topic should be allowed

Essentially a shittier version of puyo puyo
Since I got a CRT TV nobody uses and a spare PC, figured why not make an emulation machine. I did some research but can't decide what the best front end loader would be for that. As for the cables, all I need is VGA to RGB right?
How practical is it even to have an emulation box? In my case it would be just my previous PC, rather than investing money in a RPi or mini-PC. I guess the Wii did it's job good as well, but PC emu has better PS1 emulation (+ PS2).
>>3759529
A lot of people say http://mame.3feetunder.com/windows-ati-crt-emudriver/ is good if you have an old Radeon card.
>>3759529
You need an old OS and an old graphics card
there are converter boxes for that purpose.check ebay and amazon
