earthbound is shit
yes NES is retro
>>3769791
It stinks!
Do most people with fuckhuge collections beat all the games they own
I probably never will
collectors don't play games, don't be silly
>>3769738
Of course not. I never understood the point of collecting a systems set of games. Like, what's even the point if you're not gonna play them?
>>3769740
I was on this buy / sell group and sometimes they post pics of what they're playing
It's always Mario for nes on an hdtv
Are Sprites art?
Go make a sprite then come back
Considering what passes off as 'art' nowadays, why not? I appreciate good sprite work, some things can't be done in 3D.
>>3769720
By its definition, yeah.
Besides DQ and FF, are there any NES/SNES rpgs where you start with nameless characters and can freely change their classes?
Final Fantasy
Dragon Quest
Never played OOT. I've only played two Zelda games all the way througu, which was the GBA Minish Cap, and Wind Waker. Am I really missing anything from the older Zelda games?
Windwaker plays similar to the 3d zelda OOT and Majora's Mask
Minish cap plays similar to the 2d zelda which is literally any other zelda game
so if you enjoyed those games the others are worth playing i guess
>>3769605
How big of a difference is there between the 3DS and N64 versions?
>>3769615
not much the 3ds version is almost identical to the n64. 3ds has better graphics and master quest is available after you beat the game
Masaya Nakamura, the founder of Namco, has died.
What is your favorite Namco game?
>>3769331
Megami Tensei 2 and Ridge Racer 4
Respects for Namcot.
Tekken
Probably one of the games on the System 2 hardware.
>Assault
>Burning Force
>Cosmo Gang the Video
>Legend of Valkyrie
>Metal Hawk
>Ordyne
>Phelios
Never ported in West.
What was Sega thinking?
>>3769192
What is it?
>>3769192
They thought, rightfully so, that the market was not interested in shitty VNs at the time.
And they were right - the few times they DID release Sakura Taisen in English ()Sakura Taisen V for PS2 for example), it sold like shit.
>>3769192
What is it though?
Just started Lunar 2. What are peoples opions on it. I completed the first one years a go and only just go round to starting it.
>>3769187
I like it much better than the first one, and I like the first one a fair bit. If you have it available I highly recommend the Sega CD version over the remake for various reasons, but they're both worth playing.
>>3769203
Sadly only got a copy of the ps1 version. Shame it did not get a remake like 1 did. Psp version was good for 1 in my opinion.
>>3769205
It's still a good game, but there are odd things they chose to change. Like that screen which is part of this illusion forest in the old version complete with vanishing passages in trees got re-done as just some bushes that disappear for you. Very odd, there was a bunch of stuff like that.
Also WD didn't bother re-recording most of the dialogue even though the cut scenes were re-done so there are times it doesn't match up.

Be careful for what you wish for ;)
No we don't. Grow up. Move on.
The 90s were a simpler time. I'd be fine with it coming back, if it meant shit in general started sucking less.
Hello /vr/
What actually makes Deus Ex so good and/or well loved? I've been reading a couple of reviews and they have been very vague about what exactly makes the game good. Like, they say something about choices and consequences, but they don't give any concrete examples of the sort of things you can do in game. I'd really appreciate it if someone can give me a concrete example like that. Something I can do ingame that shows the game's apparent freedom.
>>3769052
Why not play it and see for yourself?
>>3769052
Thus video explains what the fuzz it's all about, personally I highly recommend the game, it's quite the experience

Fair enough. I'll put it in the backlog.
What are some other vidya kino titles?
You mean cinematic platformers?
Try Bermuda Syndrome.

>>3768889
They are called kinomatic platformers now. Didn't you get the memeo?
Redpill me on savestates.
>>3768814
They make some games playable.
They can be useful if you need to take a break and no savepoint is nearby or if a game has obnoxiously long passwords as saves but they remove all fun out of a game if you abuse them.

kek
So, what's my go-to type of display for retro gaming if I don't want a big, bulky, ugly CRT in my house? Plasma? Heard nothing but good things about it.
>>3768564
A small, compact, beautiful CRT.
>>3768568
Ya see, flat-panel displays can be larger than 14 inches without being complete behemoths.
>>3768572
A 13" CRT is completely adequate.
Even 20's aren't that big. I had a 20 in my room when I was 14 and I moved it by myself all the time.
How bad is Hollywood eating into retro territory, and how do you feel about it? Shadow of the beast, Doom, Oddworld, etc. are all being 'remade' with slightly newer technogy. I'm not talking about sequels but straight remakes with 'better' tech.
Would you pay for newer, kinda different versions of your favorite classics?
Also, who owns this shit anymore? Reflections, Psychosis, Atari, THQ, Westwood, etc. have long since sold out or folded, so who's profiting on this rehashed intellectual property?
Of course not, remakes are almost always worse in regards to the original, they always ruin what is good of the original and make it more streamlined.
Shadow of the Beast was never good. All graphics no gameplay.
>>3768297
I couldn't care less because all those games are shit, especially SotB.
Hey /vr/, let's have a what are you playing right now thread.
Trying to perfect score everything.
I'm fucking comfy, lads.
Godzilla, Monster of Monsters.
Took me a bit to figure out what I was supposed to do when all the other kaiju are dead. And also that start is your special attack for some reason.
