How would I go about creating false demand for a game that would otherwise go for nothing?
13 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
1) Buy up every copy you can.
2) Be/have an e-celeb make a video about it praising the absolute shit out of the game
3) Start selling copies on ebay for outrageous prices, and have a friend or dummy account purchase them all so it appears its legitimately worth that much.

That should be about it, really.

Figured as much. I never understood magazine's obsession with this overrated puzzle game. The only good versions of Tetris are the Grandmaster series by Arika.

Hey guys, what do you think of this list?

http://www.imdb.com/list/ls009056347/

It picks the game with the best graphics for each year beginning all the way back with Tennis for Two.

It seems pretty convincing with its esoteric choices that are genuinely stunning for their time.

I guess, this could also be expanded by asking people to list retro games with the best graphics for their time...

VF3 was incredible. But Scud Race looks better.

We had Castlevania SoTN, Tekken 3, Star Fox 64, Goldeneye 007, Megaman Legends, Gran Turismo, Virtua Striker and the arcade Jurassic Park and they chose this piece of crap?
I hope they got the game name wrong and are actualling refering to the arcade Jurassic Park

Why the fuck is the shitty American version of Earthbound more expensive on Ebay than all the original Mother releases combined? You can find all three of them complete with box for circa ~50 each but a complete version of Earthbound can easily go up to 500. That's incredibly retarded tbqh.

Has any game since captured lovecraftian environments and creatures better than Quake did in 1996?
10 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>3803534
There are fucktons of games inspired by lovecraftian horror and the mythos. It depends largely on what you consider lovecraftian in the first place. Personally I consider it to be contemporary horror fantasy with emphasis on fragility and paranoia.
>>
>>3803543
Should have spoilered that for not retro but I agree it does a good job of being lovecraftian. OP set a pretty narrow window with "since 1996" though. Eternal Darkness is another that would probably fit the bill but is from '02. Shadow Of The Comet is pretty intensely Lovecraftian then gets further away from it in Prisoner of Ice. Alone in the Dark games have definite influences. Nocturne nails the setting but is one of those games that makes you feel like it's going to "go there" with Lovecraft stuff but doesn't. So much of Steven King's stuff also leaves me disappointed that way but if we're talking video games, his themes don't really start making their way into gaming until way past the retro period.

I tried to order one today funnily enough, but the seller had already sold both units he had available, fortunately he had another coming in so he's going to contact me first when it comes in.

So, how come there isn't a video out mod yet? I could find little information on the subject, other than apparently it had been done at some point but without documentation, and that the board had video test pins.

What do you guys think?

-you can play arcade mode fully and even do versus mode.
-to unlock the old primal rage cast, just hold up for 4 seconds on a human.
-if you hold up for 4 seconds on the old cast, you unlock a 3rd version that lets you switch between human/monster on the fly like shang tsung.
-after a 2p versus match, the loser has to press start to continue on the "vs" screen or else the game crashes.
-sometimes when choosing your character the game makes a terrible screech sound. be ready.

As far as i know its nearly complete (like a full working arcade mode and such), maybe just lacking some polish/fixes here and there.

But certainly there is enough stuff complete to be playable.

Did the original DKC have the best graphics? After replaying them again it's something I've come to consider. DKC1 seems to have the most dramatic, vivid coloration. I notice the colors in the other games tend to be a bit more "static" and washed out.

I was a genesis kid that gen. Held on for years that genesis was the superior console.

I've played a LOT of games since then that steered me in the other direction, but it was DKC2 that I played in 2012 that showed me the grievous error of my ways.
