>selling romhacks repros
Some people have really no shame. Fucking both the devs/publishers and the fans of the games. That's like asking to be hated by everyone.
>>3813272
I don't want to defend him, but if people are happy with buying repros, customers have problems as well.
>"Artisanal" SNES and NES
>"there's also artistry"
>selling someone else's romhacks and translations for profit
>people pay for this shit

BARFING GOES IN EVERY BARFING FIELD
Can we get a thread for these beauties?
They are kind of a rarity because they existed in that time when everybody was hott nutts for 3D polygons. Right when the hardware had only just reached the point where it could do high color, high detail 2D perfectly with all manner of transparency, scaling and distortion effects.
That's a shame, isn't it? They look so good, 32 bit CD based hardware solved every limitation that restrained the vision of developers who made 2D platformers on 16 bit machines before that.
Only for that potential to be, for the most part, wasted on janky looking primitive 3D that has aged about as well as a meth addict.
What are some of your favorite 32 bit 2D platformers?
Did people in 1995 assume this was going to be another 3DO?
What did Sony do right that Panasonic & Phillips didn't?
good games and a good developer outreach plan and good hardware that let devs do what they wanted to easier than the competition.
>>3812369
The Sony brand name meant something back then. They were known for quality hardware. They made TVs, walkmans, camcorders--all kinds of stuff. It seemed only natural that they should make a video game system.
I for one didn't expect much. I saw posters and ads for it and thought they were wasting their time against Sega and Nintendo.
What /vr/ death hit you the hardest?
No more Marian panty shots. ;_;Unless you're playing the NES version.
I'm sure a lot of people here will understand, even though it's not retro.MegaMan Legends 3
Fuck you [spoilers]Capcom[/spoilers]
Which lesser known FPSs are worth playing?

Blake Stone: Planetstrike
The first one (Aliens of Gold) was just straight up shooting and garish fullbright with no shading. The sequel added distance shadows, per-room light levels like ROTT and actual objectives you have to complete like placing the fusion detonator on the reactor core or recovering a data chip.
Between that and the vending machines, health machines and interactable NPCs which either help or attack you depending on their loyalties, it was remarkably sophisticated for a game built on the Wolfenstein 3D engine.
Exhumed on sega saturn, its absolutely fabulous
Requiem - Avenging Angel
The main problem I'm running into with retro gaming is the price of the games. I'd much prefer to use actual hardware, and I already have most of the consoles I could ever want to play, but I simply don't have the funds to also support a library of games for them, especially some of the better ones. I can burn Playstation and Dreamcast games, so that's not a huge issue, but cartridge based systems are obviously a little more complicated. So:
What flashcarts does /vr/ recommend? Explain it to me like I'm retarded.

Everdrive seems to have the best compatibility, but for SNES I'd forget about it right now because all the games worth playing don't work for no conceivable reason.
Do you bother to read text in games?
mostly talking about RPGs
yes, especially on my first playthrough
>>3804082
1st time, yes. Other times, absolutely not.
>>3804082
why would you play an rpg and not read? thats kind of the point
Alright, I might just be stupid but how the fuck do you use codes with an action replay?
I just got one and no code seems to be taking. I flip the switch down to go into the menu for cheats, then start the game and flip it up to the on position and cheats seem to be working. Should I flip the switch while still in the menu to the on position?
Are the cheats codes on the web just for emulators or do they work on real hardware?
I have a 1chip SNES if that helps
>>3814895
Also forgot to add in that it is an MK2 1.0
>>3814895
I dunno, m8. Did it not come with a manual? I had an AR for the Mega Drive once upon a time and managed to get it working easily enough due to my 1337 manual reading sk1llz.
How the fuck do I get proficient at shooting games?
>>3814234
Practice.
And save states if you're a scrub like me, but you're not really good if you do that.
>>3814238
How the fuck did people play this with an arcade stick? I play Fantasy Zone on mame with my arcade stick and I feel like there is definitely less precision than playing with a dpad or keyboard.
>>3814241
what kind of stick do you have? some are definitely better than others, i'd much rather play on d-pad than american style bat top sticks too.
What is the best Mario Kart 64 Cup and why is it Star Cup?
>best endurance track in the game, with lots of tricky shortcuts (fuck that rainbow road noise)
>2nd best track in the game (that ending canyon and bridge)
>1st best track in the game
>best and hardest final track in the game, with brutal swings in positions
How many Mark Kart 64 threads do we need? This is the 5th one now in a span of a week.
>>3812820
Man I hate Wario's stage. It's such a long course. I hate doing three laps, there should be a mode where we can do half a lap.
>>3812832
>He doesn't know about the wall-jump shortcut in Wario Stadium
How many of you have played this game?
Do you have a link to the full version of the game?
You can find it in the isozone as mordor depths of djenol
Played the shareware version.
Beat the remake.
Where did Lavos go in 2300ad?
>>3811293
To another planet. That's what Lavos does.
It may be implied that the snow mountain area in 2300 AD is infact the remains of Lavos. That's why there are Lavos spawn there.
>>3811436
I never understood why people said that. The mountain is thousands of times larger than him and is clearly made of rock and ice. I don't doubt he's ON the mountain somewhere, long dead after he spawned his babies, but I don't think the mountain itself is his corpse.
What went so bloody right, lads?

Just hit all the right notes anon.
Nothing until they ported it to the Amiga.
That dude Just rekt my fort and now i am missing the samurai, that dog-guy, tsai, and that girl called Hannah, are they dead or did they flee somewhere?
They will return later, the only way to permanently lose a character is by letting they die in an army battle.
>>3815363
Or being a chickenshit.
>>3815365
But Boris replaces Ridley if you let him die anyway.
What are your favourite PS1 games, /vr/? Looking to try out some stuff that I missed
>>3815240
You just posted one. Also Colony Wars: Vengeance, both Parasite Eves but the second isn't great, the Syphon Filters, and then of course the obvious Resident Evils, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy.
Harvest moon
Monster rancher
Spent countless hours playing these
Ergheiz (quest mode), Tales of Eternia, Legend of Legaia, YGO Forbidden Memories (not even kidding)
But you should avoid these games though, they are considered shit by the majority and I kind of agree in many points.
